Right now the g5 is cut out entirely. It gives a guaranteed seat at the table and a home game that they would never be able to arrange otherwise. The plan does give the lion's share to the Power 5 conferences but so what... They turn on more televisions and are the reason that college football is valuable.
Is it elitist, sure but frankly this is a FAR better deal than they are getting now with the recent proposal.
It's how the free market works. It's the American way and I see no problem with it. There is inclusion, no complaints warranted.

24 sounds large until you consider the pro leagues take a far higher percentage of teams. The NCAA men’s basketball tournament takes a slightly higher percentage and has the NIT, CBI, and CIT. The NCAA baseball tournament takes an even higher percentage of teams than a 24 team field.
A 24-team FBS playoff would work if you took the bowls out of the playoff system and let the bowls fend for themselves like the CBI or CIT -- and if you could convince ESPN or another network to give you a lot more money for a 24-team playoff than a 12-team playoff.
The FBS playoff is and is designed to be a money machine, so generating more money will always be the playoff's raison d'être. Of course, that highlights the political and moral conundrum of a playoff that generates an ever-increasing number of billions each year to enrich coaches, ADs, and athletic budgets while paying nothing to the athletes whose hard work is the product sold to TV, to ticket buyers, and to corporate sponsors.

Without explicit endorsement and support from the playoff I would argue that the bowl system, WHICH NEEDS TO BE PRESERVED, is dead. Do you realize how many bowl eligible teams would be left out that currently get post-season action. In a normal year there are between 7-10 bowl eligible teams from the Power 5. My point is this: you can't get rid of the bowls... It is uniquely and identifiably college football. I say we improve what we have but not destroy what has made us great. I believe it can be done.

Seems to me that if a 24 team FBS playoff was more appealing to the P5 conferences than a 12 team FBS playoff, that's what we would have ended up with after two years of committee deliberations.
Similar to a 16 team playoff ... indeed, it is likely one or more 16 team playoff approaches were considered, and when a 12 team approach was judged to be superior to a 16 team approach, they wouldn't have even had to consider a 24 team approach.
