RE: ACC/Big Ten FOOTBALL Challenge?
For me, I'd like to see VT play either SEC or Big Ten EAST teams, but no interest in either conference's Western division, tbh.

LSU and TN have reneged on us in the past. Auburn, Georgia and Nebraska would only play if we went there.

Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama, and Michigan State kept their word.

We only seat 60K and 50-55K of those are always our fans. Without freeboard in the stadium it's a tough sell. Moreover a number of Big 10 teams have no intention of showing up in the southeast in early September when it's 95 degrees and 70% humidity.

An ACC - SEC football challenge would be fun. Perhaps painful. But still fun.

In men's hoops, an ACC - Big East challenge could be pretty good. Only 11 teams, so that would suck. But there are some possibilities ...

Villanova - NORTH CAROLINA

Creighton - NC STATE

UConn - BOSTON COLLEGE

St. John's - MIAMI

Seton Hall - VIRGINIA

Providence - PITT

Xavier - FLORIDA STATE

Georgetown - SYRACUSE

Marquette - DUKE

Butler - NOTRE DAME

DePaul - LOUISVILLE ?? (bringing back "DePaul Day" for Cards fans)

Creighton, Xavier, and DePaul were the hardest to pair up.

Clemson, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech left out ... unless someone knows of better match ups with those guys included.

That annual game with DePaul and that trip to Chicago were special a long time ago.

Both…
Louisville started playing DePaul in the 50’s.
The away games got to be big trips for Louisville fans. You could count on 8, 10 up to 12 bus loads of fans traveling north for the game.

Georgia Tech games in Atlanta were popular trip too when we were both in the Metro in the mid 70’s.

So.... if you were 20 in 1950, you're about 90 now?

There might be more B1G fans living in Raleigh than State fans ......the natives have been overrun by mid-westerners.
Wake County is the only county in North Carolina where Catholics are the majority religious group.

Man that looks UGLY. I'd be up for VT playing LSU as they played nearly as badly as we did last year but I don't like our chances overall.
