Jeffers is swinging the bat better and he has had better ABs -more competitive at the plate which means he is seeing the ball better. Knowing the strike zone at the MLB level is huge and knowing how different guys call the plate as a catcher should help him as a hitter and catcher.

Jeffers back to majors
Ryan faced fellow former Seahawk Evan Phillips (pitching for Tampa Bay) tonight in Minneapolis. Evan struck Ryan out.

If this the first time two former Hawks have faced off in MLB?

RE: Jeffers back to majors
That's cool Proff. To me, Evan's coming out party was the CAA tourney game at C of C when they were ranked that year. We were good too but we had to win a few games to ensure an NCAA at large Regional and UNCW ended up winning the tourney so it didn't matter. He started pitching from the stretch position and it all clicked. He was great in that game and also in the Baton Rouge Regional as well. That really boosted his stock and now he made the show.

I was at a local pool in North Raleigh the day after he pitched in the Regional and his mother was there telling me about him LOL...what a coincidence. She told me that he was pitching and throwing since he was like 3 years old.

He had nasty stuff but was wild until he made that change. Not sure if he does it exclusively still or just with base runners but it's good to see him still rolling.

The program has come a long way and it's now starting to show.
