Everywhere we have lived prior to here has had minor league baseball teams. I love bringing my 5 year old son to those games, but there isn't a minor league team here. It looks like UL baseball is the only show in town as far as that is concerned. Are UL baseball games good for kids?

UL baseball is big here. And, yes, it's got a good atmosphere for the kiddos.

Lived right outside of Lafayette in Broussard for 11 years. From 1995-2006. We moved right when everything started to build up right around where the old Adeian's Supermarket was, I think its all storage units now.

Probably not going to hear this from those who live there 24/7 but one thing you can do with the whole family is visit Vermillionville or Acadian Village. They are both small town villages set up with crafters, live music, cooking demos, gift shops, restaurants and other things relating to Louisiana heritage.

Vermillionville
Acadian Village

This was always on the to do list when we had family or visitors from out of state visiting.

As BOP said, very good for kids. Before COVID it was a tradition on Sunday games that the kids could run out onto the field with the position players for the national anthem before games. I hope to see that come back this year.

There is no minor league, but there is a summer league team with college players from around the country that plays at Fabacher Field just outside of Lafayette in Youngsville.

Absolutely.

Also, it's not minor league, but there's a collegiate summer league (Texas Collegiate League) team in Lafayette: Acadiana Cane Cutters. They play at Fabacher Field.

Oops, didn't notice the responses above.

Yeah, to all the above. I would also add that if you haven’t taken them to Cypress Lake on the UL campus you need to do so ASAP! It’s full of gators, turtles, birds etc, and it’s right here in town. it’s amazing and the kiddo’s love it. Grab a poboy from olde tyme and make a picnic of it.

Cypress Lake

And Moncus Park will be opening this Christmas and will be an AWESOME addition to our city/region

Moncus Park

And be sure to take them to Acadian Village to see the Christmas lights. Very special.

Ha. I moved back to LFT in 2003 and lived in the same area for about 7 years. It has really changed since I moved into town.

I'll be attending my first ever Ragin Cajuns football games on Tuesday night for the Louisiana/App State game!

My mother-in-law works for UL, so she's got the tickets covered - but I was wondering about the best spot for tailgating, mask/vaccine requirements in the stadium, etc.

Looking forward to a few beers and some football! One of the perks of living in a college town, albeit not MY college town. 04-cheers

Awesome! I’d expect tailgating to be subpar for our standards. Come to the Homecoming game and experience true tailgating!

No mask/vaccine/negative Covid test mandates!
