Mothers Of Black People Killed By Police Tear Into Black Lives Matter Co-Founder
Quote:Mothers who have had to bear the pain of losing a son in altercations with police are fighting back, but this time against one of Black Lives Matter’s founders.
Whether a shooting or killing was justified or not any loving parent is going to grieve the loss of their child, and sometimes that is when unscrupulous profiteers can take advantage of that pain for their own profit. That is what several mothers of those killed by police believe happened with the Black Lives Matter organization after the group’s co-founder Patrisse Cullors announced she was leaving the group, The New York Post reported.
“I don’t believe she is going anywhere,” Samaria Rice, the mother of Tamir Rice, shot by Cleveland police when he was 12 as he played with a toy gun, said to The Post. “It’s all a facade. She’s only saying that to get the heat off her right now.”
Lisa Simpson, a Los Angeles mom whose son Richard Risher was shot and killed by the Los Angeles Police Department, had a similar sentiment.
“Now she doesn’t have to show her accountability,” she said. “She can just take the money and run.”
Cullors, the executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, announced on Thursday she was leaving the group a month after The Post reported on her $3.2 million real-estate buying spree and questions about the group’s finances.
Cullors did not respond to a request for comment. She has said her departure had been in the works for a year and was not tied to what she called “right wing attacks that tried to discredit my character.”
Rice, 44, told The Post she first sought out Cullors to enlist the group’s help in re-opening a federal investigation into her son’s 2014 death. She said she exchanged a few emails with Cullors over the years, but had never managed a face-to-face meeting.
“They are benefiting off the blood of our loved ones, and they won’t even talk to us,” Rice said.
“We never hired them to be the representatives in the fight for justice for our dead loved ones murdered by the police,” Rice and Simpson said in a press release on March 18. “The ‘activists’ have events in our cities and have not given us anything substantial for using our loved ones’ images and names on their flyers. We don’t want or need y’all parading in the streets accumulating donations, platforms, movie deals, etc. off the death of our loved ones, while the families and communities are left clueless and broken.”
In April, Tamika Palmer, the mother of Breonna Taylor, had a similar sentiment about the Louisiana chapter of Black Lives Matter.
“’I have never personally dealt with BLM Louisville and personally have found them to be fraud, (state Rep.) Attica Scott another fraud,” her mother, Tamika Palmer, said on Facebook.
“I could walk in a room full of people who claim to be here for Breonna’s family who doesn’t even know who I am, I’ve watched y’all raise money on behalf of Breonna’s family who has never done a damn thing for us nor have we needed it or asked to talk about fraud,” she said.
“It’s amazing how many people have lost focus … I’m a say this before I go, I’m so sick of some of y’all and I was last anybody who needs it,” she said. “Enough is enough!!”
The post has been removed from Facebook with no explanation, but the point was made.
Hawk Newsome, who heads Black Lives Matter Greater New York City, which is not affiliated with Khan-Cullors’ Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, wants “an independent investigation” to discover how the global network is spending its funds.
“If you go around calling yourself a socialist, you have to ask how much of her own personal money is going to charitable causes,” he said. “It’s really sad because it makes people doubt the validity of the movement and overlook the fact that it’s the people that carry this movement.”
Quote:Rashard Turner, the founder of a Black Lives Matter chapter in St. Paul, Minnesota, revealed in a video published last week that he quit the organization after he “learned the ugly truth” while being an insider in the far-left group.
Turner made the remarks in a video published by TakeCharge, a black-led organization that rejects critical race theory and woke culture.
TRANSCRIPT:
I was born in Minneapolis in 1985. We called the north side home at that time, 18th and Queen. When I was two years old, my father was shot and killed. My mother wasn’t able to take care of me. So I was raised by my grandparents. They told me that if I was going to change my life for the better, education was the answer. So I worked hard in school, I got into Hamlin University and earned a college degree, first in my family. Then I went on to earn a master’s in education from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. I am living proof that no matter your start life, quality education is a pathway to success. I want the same success for our children in our communities. That’s why in 2015, I was a founder of Black Lives Matter in St. Paul. I believed the organization stood for exactly what the name implies, black lives do matter.
However, after a year on the inside, I learned they had little concern for rebuilding black families, and they cared even less about improving the quality of education for students in Minneapolis. That was made clear when they publicly denounced charter schools alongside the teachers union. I was an insider in Black Lives Matter. And I learned the ugly truth. The moratorium on charter schools does not support rebuilding the black family. But it does create barriers to a better education for black children. I resigned from Black Lives Matter after a year and a half. But I didn’t quit working to improve black lives and access to a great education.
Today, I serve as the President and Executive Director of Minnesota Parent Union. We’re dedicated to helping parents move their children from failing schools, to successful schools. It’s hard work, and we’re up against forces that don’t want us to succeed. But success is possible. Just look at me and the hundreds of children and families we’ve helped to pursue a great education, break the chains of poverty and lead a life of success.

This usually happens with a lot of grass roots organizations. The people who start them get rich and then move on and the followers are left without leadership, direction, and lighter wallets.
The same thing happened to the Tea Party movement.

Actually, the TEA Party got hijacked by neocon RINOs who realized that the TEA Party was the only thing going for republicans/conservatives in the aftermath of 2008. Unfortunately, they adopted the title but not the issue positions and therefore corrupted the brand.

I think we are talking about different things.
I understand now that Owl is talking about the politicians who used the movement to get elected or more popular.
I was talking about the leaders of those organizations who got rich off of them.
