It didn't hurt though that Auburn is a real mess right now and was last year as well.

The SEC needs Auburn to right its ship. They are one of the flagship programs.

Funny an accurate except for one detail, the big money donors wanted to hire Kevin Steele (then defensive coordinator) as head coach and absolutely didn't want Harsin who was being pushed by the AD Allen Greene.

May be reading that "detail" in.

It didn't actually say that the boosters got them to hire the HC.
