Should W&M Pursue the Atlantic-10?
The grand finale of this series we've run over the past month on conference talks and potential pursuits for W&M.

The article raises what we believe to be the three most important questions facing W&M Athletics right now (with the incoming AD to be hired):

Was Samantha Huge wrong about: 1) The WAY she went about implementing her strategy, i.e. cutting other sports to help sustain the “Big 3” OR 2) Was it her overall dedication to winning in the “BIG 3” in the first place (perhaps at the expense of high academic recruiting standards) OR 3) Was it BOTH of the above?

We've created an official Facebook poll below where you can vote with the wider W&M community (and on our Instagram story to gauge the younger crowd, but would LOVE to hear discussion here on this board.

w/r/t #2, I don't remember the loss of high academic recruiting standards being a top 10 complaint. Could be that's personal bias in what I remember.

Am leaning more towards Big East. College leaders might have to grovel some regarding past association with Church of England, but could offer up guarantees that athletes would attend Saint Bede's. Only a matter of time before both sides see wisdom of the move.

RE: Should W&M Pursue the Atlantic-10?
Change in the future is needed but the A-10, ACC, and Big East are foolish wishing based on uncompetitive position today of our athletics programs. Our goal should be to take the path of Richmond to the A-10 but we need to Dance multiple years before we can even knock on their door!

Dropping down to the Patriot is not acceptable to many and clearly W&M is committed to Division I.

This topic is timely for the search committee to discuss with the new AD search so that persons vision aligns with the School's admin and alumni.
