I think it only doesnt matter when you cant make it happen. People in Statesboro would show up in all of their toothless glory if a legit P5 school showed up down there. Someone's not doing their job well.

No two and ones just $1.8 million. None of these will be coming to the Boro anytime soon so adding to the schedule is a solid. Getting your butt kicked in your home town is a net negative and delegitimizes much of any season. An exhibition beatdown at home lingers much like Apps loss to Miami. Winning a mid to low tier P5 at home does little if anything to move the needle at this point. Winning a solid G5 at home does.

I'm excited about BYU, Bosie and Houston coming to town over the next few years. I'd love to have a P5 visit Statesboro but I don't dwell on it at all because I trust that our AD will make the right choices to keep the department financially stable.

When South Alabama was first starting out they arranged some P5 two-for-one deals and got teams like Mississippi State and Oklahoma State to come to Mobile, but you don't see them doing that anymore. The amount of money you give up just isn't made up for by ticket sales or visiting recruits, particularly if you don't fare well in the game.

Yeah, I kind of get it. The Miami beatdown in Boone was not much fun. However, beating NC and SC on the road was and they are both SCHEDULED to come to Boone soon. 04-cheers

Apps loss to Miami has been shown to be an aberration. Sandwhiched was an OT loss to No. 9 Tennessee, a missed field goal away from beating Wake, an OT loss to No. 9 Penn State, defeating UNC and USC.

The only P5 teams to beat App by more than one score since 2015 are Clemson and Miami.

Getting USM for a H&H Is probably better then a mid level P5 for us, fan wise. GaSo doesn’t have that close G5 school that can come in a make that kind of noise. Getting well known G5 schools are always good gets too, BYU, Boise, service academies, Colorado St and Memphis, etc. no one in the MAC moves the needle for 99.9% of the fan base. AAC, couple in the CUSA, MW, those teams can be just as good as a mediocre P5 school.

Unfortunately, most of us are not getting an in state P5 to come to our building, GaSt-GaTech and TxSt and any of the other 8 P5 schools in their state. stAte getting Arkansas would be about the next one that could get that home game.

Edit: forgot about App and NC coming up.

You’re also winless at home against P5......... We can do this all day, end result, you’ve never a P5 at home. If you see no value it, then that’s on you. We just see it differently.

Having South Carolina, North Carolina, Duke, West Virginia or the like in Statesboro would be outstanding for the fans if we win. Playing in Georgia can be a positive for recruiting for the P5 but who are you choosing between the available options? Ga state chest thumping with who's on the schedule but the beauty is Atlanta folks are MUCH tougher to impress. I think in time we'll all feel the burn of not being in Atlanta but none of us would be willing to trade our programs. It could be argued that wins are more important for a program than the exhibitions of a low level P5. If it works out great. IF they win our conference schedule improves so no jelly here. Ya'll get after those home P5s! 04-cheers

I never said I don’t see any value in it. I think it would be awesome to host a P5 in Paulson and I think it’ll happen eventually, I just don’t lose any sleep over not having one lined up yet. I’m season ticket holder and will be attending games and enjoying myself regardless of if we’re playing West Virginia or Western Carolina. It’s just that simple.

having a p5 home game doesn't mean squat except for maybe selling a few extra tickets.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that why they play the game??? Football is a marketing tool for the school, getting more people on campus, a chance to sell the school to future students, a P5 home game really gives the school a chance to shine and put its best foot forward.

winning a NY6 bowl would do way more of that than having a p5 home game.

I don't think ANYONE has said there is no value in it. What we HAVE said is that the value is relegated to a couple thousand extra tickets for ONE game and a little ego boost for playing a P5 at home. it's not worth losing money in a standard 2:1.

It would be a lot of fun to host a P5, but I'm not losing sleep over it. When it happens, it happens. Other than that, I don't care enough to worry about it.

Honestly, who cares? I always thought this was some weird thing nobody cares about other than fanatics to rib another team about. As if getting some mid-tier p5 will make anything about the program better. If you get a team with a legit shot at winning the playoffs and you get the W, ok but nobody cares about a mediocre Miami team coming to your stadium and beat the crApp out of you 45-10 lol. I am sure we could have gotten a two for one many times but why lose money for some weird ego boost. Outside of selling a few more tickets name one thing where a game is played with a p-5 has had tangible benefits over the long term 07-coffee3 I would rather play a close P-5 that I can travel to and get a huge check over selling a few more thousand tickets for one home game or some weird chest beating that nobody cares about outside of a handful of fanatics.

Honestly if we get GT or Vandy to do a H&H what changes about our program or any other G5 that has not hosted a P5? Did USA hosting Miss St do anything for them?

HOLY @#$%^&*.......do you and I ACTUALLY agree on something??? 04-jawdrop We need to go home and kiss our families. I think the world is coming to an end. 04-cheers LMAO
