every time im around the area, i keep thinking this.

from its current operations at Piedmont Ave. and Peachtree St. around central GSU campus, this needs to extend few miles down to Summerhill...

climate controlled streetcar > walking around city blocks in summer heat with your back drenched in sweat before meetings/class/whatever

There was talk of it coming straight down Capitol into Summerhill but I think that plan got replaced with the Marta express shuttle bus or whatever.

Correct. And not enough emphasis is being put on light rail. The original idea was light rail in the belt line which is just south of Summerhill. A connection of the prospective Beltline rail and the street car on Capitol /Hank Aaron would make sense then.
