Well deserved, but I think she was more dominant and more efficient last season.

We gladly take whatever recognition we can get.

No question. And Nicole should have been 2nd or 3rd team last year as she was that dominant. Carly did a much better job distributing the ball this year, I think she deserved honorable mention as she was that good.
There is no limit to how good next year's squad will be (actually, this Fall) with everyone back and with a chip on the shoulders due to the way this year ended in Omaha. Nicole, Carly and Anota are all all-american caliber, and all return for one final, glorious run. True Freshmen Courtley and Maruska really came on strong toward the end of the season, and give us a really strong front line of attackers. Kostelecky, getting her first playing time as a Sophomore, proved to be our best and most consistent blocker up front. Bickelmeyer was the one disappointment this year as I was hoping for a breakout season, but her performance showed no improvement over her Freshman year. Consequently, Courtley and Maruska saw ever-increasing action as the season progressed. McCardell and Lobue were adequate as liberos and defensive specialists, but not much more. We have to wait another year before Gaby Mansfield (Klein) takes over that role. The one area where we will need to improve if we hope to truly move into the elite category in the Fall is in the service game-- both our own serving and receiving.
With COVID restriction hopefully eased by the Fall season, I ]\ope we can schedule a really strong OOC schedule-- including Stanford (who always spends their first month of the season, prior to the start of their classes, on the road), Texas, Baylor, A&M, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin and UH (assuming this year's strong performance was not a one-off). We may lose a couple, but it will ensure our RPI remains high.

WKU's Nadie Dieudonne got honorable mention all-american despite Carly beating her out for CUSA Setter of the Year (with the voting done by the conference coaches who have a front row seat on the action). Crazy.
