I watched him play 6-7 games in person in 2018-19 at NKU..at no point did I ever think he was an AAC level starter. I get why he came here but he’s a guy who would have done well to stay in the smaller pond that I expect he’ll be moving back to next year for his super senior season. I thank him for his time and wish him the best.

Adam Hrycaniuk started every game for a season, and he couldn't consistenly make a layup.

Adam H and Cheik Modj are two of the most frustrating players I have ever seen in my life.

Checkh Mbodji was an excellent defensive big. He was worse than Vogt on offense, but he was a totally serviceable center as long as he wasn't asked to score.

Frustrating in the sense he had a bum ankle. If it ever healed right he would have been a great defensive player instead of a very good one.

Adam H was frustrating because he couldn't make a layup.

Yes Ibrahima Thomas was kind of frustrating. Big athletic guy who inexplicably spent way too much time hanging around the 3-point line iirc.

This comment makes me think of Correante DeBerry, who was immediately the strongest player in the program, but took the better part of a year and a half to figure out how to use that strength to consistently win post position. Once the light came on, though, he was very good, and improving every game. I feel like he would have broken out pretty big if he'd just had another year of eligibility.

Deberry was probably the best depth big we've had in a long time. Didn't see a ton of minutes, but when he did get in, you knew he was good for at least a bucket or two and a couple rebounds on every shift. Not as good as Mbodj defensively, but man, that St. Joes game his senior year really made you wonder what he could've been with another year.

Unsurprisingly both have put up around 10/6 lines throughout their professional careers in Europe (Deberry mostly in Germany and Portugal and Mbodj in France, Italy, and Poland).

My season ticket partner and I had a running joke where we'd always refer to deberry as the "best player in America". He seemed to do good things every time he was on the floor.

It's nuts to think about, but for his career he has a 116 ORTG and a 92 DRTG, and his senior year that ORTG was 124. Those are nutty numbers, and yes, I realize part of it is down to sample size, but still...good things happened when he was on the court.

This might be the year for a 47 year old walk-on with all his eligibility left. I don't mind being put in as a human victory cigar at the end of games.

I always thought DeBerry should have played more, although I understand why it was tough to get him on the floor. He was stuck behind Ellis and Clark, and Mick was trying to get Quadri Moore some floor time to develop.
