RE: TBT tournament announcement
“Bucks” lead 29-28 at the half. T on Sideline Cancer after a petty placing of hands on D Bradford by Marcus Keene walking off the court. The Bucketneers are giving up too many wide open looks at 3 and otherwise missing too many bunnies in the paint, I think. In any case, it’s a ballgame! Go Bucketneers!

After a tough 3rd quarter, the “Bucks” pull ahead again by 1. This last quarter will be a nailbiter!

Ah, dang! What an ending. Sad to see the Bucketneers go home, but it was a helluva game. Glad it’s a cancer charity moving on. Good luck to Sideline Cancer.

I agree completely SHAMPOO. It was a lot of fun for the past few days. I’d like to see the UT team do well, but I don’t think they are in a class with the ETSU alumni.
One think that caught my eye on Sunday(I think), was when they showed the coaches shares. I can’t remember all of them, but I think the max share was $80,000. I think head coach Joe Hugley’s share would have been $70,000, while Peijsa Shay’s was $80,000 as a social media coordinator(or something similar). Did anyone else catch that? That was a full player share. Interesting

I've been wondering about funding during the whole tournament. It's "winner take all", which to me means TBT puts up nothing until the end. But that may be just me being literal, and TBT is being cagey about that wording. ESPN has got to be sending them decent coin for all this. Most teams have "sponsors", which I translate to "donors/investors". I assume that's who puts up the $$ for hotels, travel, etc., etc.?
Also......(well, see next post)...........

RE: TBT tournament announcement
So.....here's a couple more thoughts..........
I'll bet next year, assuming ETSU has a team, that they won't be no 12 seed. Would be great if the NCAA could learn from that. LOL. Fat chance, I know.
And so what was with not playing Trey Boyd most of the game, and not much in the second half of the second game? It actually made me wonder if the players themselves might have some skin in the game. That seems far-fetched, but is it?
And altho I know this game was more about D, Trey can do D now, and has been for the last 1+ year. Anybody else think that 'mysterious'?
And altho Pigram (eventually) started hitting some shots, he was a liability a lot of the time. I'm assuming this was mostly a Pigram-for Boyd switch, and since Pigram almost certainly has money to work with...........that got the wheels rolling in my brainbone. Just pure speculation, but I bet that info is out there somewhere.
(And I'm not saying that'd be wrong; they guys are pros, after all.)

I think I saw a gofundme page today from one of the coaches to help them out with some expenses of staying in Charleston.

Someone else is wondering the same thing:
https://www.johnsoncitypress.com/sports/...4d7c3.html
"Tray Boyd, who came into the game shooting 80% on 3-pointers, did not attempt a shot and only played seven minutes."
I'm sure there's a reason, and very unlikely it's nefarious or similar, but, you know, we'd just like to know.

RE: TBT tournament announcement
I really enjoyed watching this team go at it. I agree - I don't know why Tray didn't play as much in this game. It may have been a matchup issue. Courtney wasn't as much of a liability, because defensively we were still pretty solid. The kid hit a circus shot at the end. If that doesn't fall, I think we win it. Desonta really played a great game along with Tuoyo & Banks. I know Pigram has gained some weight, but good grief, the guy is 35 years old. He still hit some shots.
I have a rant. Me and several fans went out to watch the game at Kickback Jack's. We avoided Wild Wing because I knew from experience A) they wouldn't know what I was talking about, B) their streaming wifi is a joke & freezes all the time. So, I thought I would take my chances at Kickback Jack's. The problem? A) They didn't know what I was talking about regarding the TBT or the Bucketneers, and B) They were able to get it for 5 seconds, it promptly froze, and no one made any attempt to fix it. We were able to pull it up on my friend's phone using their wifi and watched the game.
Can Johnson City not get a sports bar that's actually run by sports fans, or at least someone who reads the local paper? This has been in the JCP and WJHL has been covering it. It's pathetic. Last Spring when we hit the second rain delay in the ETSU Western football game, my buddy & I went to Wild Wing to watch the rest. We got there and their buffering and Wifi was so far behind, the game was still "on." In other words, their wifi was about an hour behind live game time.
Next time I'll try Knight's, I guess.

RE: TBT tournament announcement
GoBucsGo has identified a very real and longstanding issue. I remember going to East Coast Wings back in the day when they were our official watch party and none of the employees knowing what I was talking about when I came in for the game. Knights would likely be the same although they need the business and have a setup to make it work. Wild Wing is the best we have had in a while, but we need a true partner that cares about ETSU athletics.

Totally agree. No clue why this is so dang hard for some business to do in the area. Mind boggling really.

Good opportunity for someone to buy the old PR's and call it ''Bucketeers.'' What's happening with that property?

Empty. For sale. Maybe with this "West Walnut St. Revitalization" something will happen there.

I go by there about every day and the property looks to be in horrible condition. Possibly, every thing will have to be torn down and rebuilt. Either way, it is an ideal place for a college pub.
