few recruiting and former rocket notes
once upon a time about 5 years ago the rockets heavily recruited a muscular power forward out of Chile by way of florida by the name of sammis reyes.kid had great tape and looked to be that elusive banger type lots of fans wish we'd sign. sammis didn't sign with anyone that year, then ended up in hawai'i but didn't play and eventually bounced around D1 without any distinction. however, he was signed today by the NFL team in washington, dc as a tight end, even though he's never played football. runs a 4.6 forty and benched 225 an astounding 31 times. no word on his jump shot.

matias acunzo seems to have settled at the new Transfer U, Robert Morris. in the past 3 weeks along with acunzo, they have brought in transfers from lasalle, st bonaventure, oklahoma st, and st johns.

It seems that all the UT transfer out players have found a home except Luke Maranka. I have no insight but he may end up going to a lower division.

Will be interesting in watching Robert Morris inside the Horizon. Maybe Coach should try to schedule a home game with Morris.

I'll just watch Acunzo in Dayton, I want UT to get some more challenging OOC games than Horizon league teams. We need some Big 10, A10, MWC, Big East and AAC games.

With the free year of eligibility Is it possible the Rockets could stiil bring in a 5th year Sr to play PF or backup Center? It doesn't appear TK is really interested in doing so but I'm curious if it is a possibility.

As I understand it, the scholarship exemption for 5th year players only applies if the player stays at the same school. They can transfer to use another year, but that counts as a scholarship at the new school.

Prevents schools from stashing a bunch of "free" players on their rosters.
