Moss can play 1 through 4 but will probably earn his early minutes based on defense, rebounding and energy. I don't think adding Dennis means anything about other guys on the roster. Hill barely played and ended the season w a slow healing broken leg, so you can't really rely on him to take over the pg role next year. Rollins is great but probably will improve best playing a mix of pg and sg.

From the Chicago Tribune

"“We went into spring with one need,” Kowalczyk said. “We lose our point guard.”

Senior Marreon Jackson averaged team highs of 18.1 points and 5.9 assists in that role for the Rockets, who won the MAC West title by two games but lost to Ohio in the finals of the conference tournament.

“He’s a guy that is more of a point guard than anything,” Kowalczyk said of Dennis. “We felt so good about him I didn’t need to reevaluate. And I think he will complement Ryan Rollins, a rising freshman guard who really stepped up for us this year.”

The 6-4 Rollins started all 30 games for Kowalczyk, averaging 13.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.

“Both can score off the dribble,” Kowalczyk said. “And both can create plays for their teammates.” "

I just don’t see this roster winning a MAC tournament championship next season. We have some gaps that will be exploited over a 3- game stretch if we make it that far. I just keep having visions of Richmond’s bench players owning the key...and while Edu back will certainly help, his style of play on defense could make him prone to foul trouble, especially if his lateral mobility suffers from the previous injuries. I’d feel a hell of a lot better if we had landed a true PF transfer with some D1 experience, but we go to battle with who we have.

At this time last year, who of us knew if Milner & Shumate (he wasn’t supposed to play) would help us. On paper they seemed underwhelming. Jones ended up opting out. We didn’t think Acunzo would be much help because of his injury. Most thought Rollins would help but how many thought Littleson would shoot nearly 50% from 3 point range for the season. Edu was coming off an injury.

We have a lot of unknowns again. What style of play will Coach K use; 3 guard seems likely but maybe something else. Projecting how we’ll play starting conference tournament time is harder yet. I’m hoping we see some of our new players show us talent like Milner and Shumate showed last year. Do we have the talent to play 9 deep next year to allow us to overcome fatigue or injury?

I guess that’s what making projections at this time of the year fun.

O ye of little faith I know with great guards they always have a shot at winning the MAC. We will have great guard play.

RE: New Basketball Commit
I know we don't have any scholarships left for the 2021 Class, but I just saw that Western Michigan Starting Forward Greg Lee has entered the Transfer Portal. The 6-9, 210 Forward averaged 13ppg. and 7rpg for the Broncos last season. I don't know if TK would have kicked the tires on Lee if we had the 1 scholarship still available, but I think he could have helped us on the interior this upcoming season. That is no knock on Dennis-- I'm looking forward to having him in the starting line up come November!

I am hopeful for 2022 season but we are still not strong enough inside. I just don’t see where we made the necessary upgrades to fix the EMBARRASSING deficiencies exposed by Richmond.

^^^ This !!
But we will still launch up a lot of 3’s and distribute the ball nicely with all of our skilled players, and then ultimately get dominated by physical teams inside, when it matters most...

Shooting 28% isn't going to beat anybody.

Having an alternative skill set when one isn't working can. And it might even kick start the one that isn't working by taking a bit of the load off.

Yep.

Rockets are a one-trick pony until they prove that they aren’t.
