One Remaining Scholarship
There has been a lot of talk lately about Toledo using their final scholarship on a Point Guard or Forward to fill obvious needs. With the spring signing period beginning this week, I have listed below the following High School Senior and College Portal Transfers that have confirmed offers from The Rockets:

Point Guard
Mason Madsen – 6-3 Cinncinnat Bearcat Transfer Soph.

Anthony Sayles Jr. – 6-3 Niles (ILL) Notre Dame Prep Academy – Offers from Toledo, Loyala Chicago, Southern Ill. & Milwaukee

Omar Figueroa 6-0 Orlando Christian Academy – Toledo, South Alabama

Forward
Emmanuel Little 6-6 Southern Indiana Transfer Senior –

Giovanni Emejuru 6-10, Charnwood College (Loughborough, England

Please add any additional players that you know of that has received offers/interest from Toledo as this has become such a fluid situation with players coming and going from the Transfer Portal

RE: One Remaining Scholarship
Guard Mike Saunders from Cincy is a transfer who stated that Toledo is one of about a dozen schools recruiting him. Said to be leaning toward BYU or UNLV in one article, but in another he saus he's not making a final list and just going by what feels right in his decision. He's a bit of a long shot but probably a more impactful guy than anyone on the above list.

Hopefully there’s at least a few more guys that can be added to that list? I have to believe that we’ve offered at least a few more in the 6’6” and taller range...and preferably somewhat proven transfers rather than high school seniors...

I don't know if UT wants to recruit any player from UC. These 6 that quit that program due to whatever reason is not specified. Coach K should use every means possible to determine the character of these players before bringing them on board if they are even interested.

Cincy just fired their coach after 2 years, at least some of it due to accusations of abusive style coaching with several players saying the program culture had taken the fun out of playing basketball. The 2 guys we are recruiting from Cincy are players we recruited out of HS and already have some perspective on. Meanwhile, both are being recruited by high profile programs. typically, our staff has an approach that new recruits are also vetted by the existing players and we don't sign anyone who hasn't passed the character/personality test in the eyes of their future teammates. Not sure how possible that is with COVID, but that's been the approach for the program under TK. In addition, we haven't gone after any of the career transferers, like Jalen Coleman-Lands who has been to 3 schools and is in the portal for a 4th. Coach has said he only wants a transfer if "he's running toward something, not running away".

that said, we have a roster heavy on big guards and small forwards so the need is for a ballhandling guard or a power forward which probably means we sign another big wing guard-sigh.

this came up in another thread when farmer committed. i think the scoop was preferred walk on. burge is not quite a scholarship level player but is a high level walk-on. marginal D1 player who has both complements on his leadership attributes and a minor conviction for a marijuana charge in a run in with cops while at ashland before he went juco. physical experienced guy who seems like he's be an ideal practice player but doesn't offer anything that moss, saunders, milner, etc... can't top at the 2/3 position.

Whoever complemented him, they complement his leadership skills before or after the conviction?

wouldn't be the first person with good leadership skills who smoked weed in college. my point was the duality. that I pulled up 2 articles on him and 1 was about how good a leader was and the other had a mug shot (although the actual charge was pretty minor).

Yes, you should give TK this idea because I'm sure he doesn't try to gauge their character before bringing them in already.

Shaker Ht HS, Lutheran E HS, Lakeland Community College, Parkland College, Ashland College, UToledo, weed charge which almost never happens sitting in the dorm and a "run-in with cops." Is there more than one Jordan Burge roaming around?

I'm not questioning the kid's leadership skills. I've never met him. I simply asked if the statement occurred before or after the conviction and run-in with cops. By who would be interesting to know also.
