Wrong, on so many levels. Keep getting your "news" and "opinions" on Reddit. It's obviously working on you.

These officers did the military a favor. That guy would NEVER be able to lead a team in a firefight in Korengal.

Reddit? I literally dont think ive ever been on reddit, unless someone linked from there.

I form my opinions based on facts and what I see with my own eyes.

I never said the guy who was stopped didnt make the situation worse but the cops were dummies and thought they were Billy badasses. They made multiple mistakes.

And again, if youve read my past posts, i have multiple family members who are LEOs and they agree with me.

I dont have a one size fits all view on these situations. They vary based on the situation.

And no i dont think this was a racial thing, it was cops making mistakes and being ********.

Cops Erect Concrete Barrier Around Home Of Cop Who Shot Daunte Wright As Protests Turn Violent For Third Night

60 Arrested in Minnesota in 3rd Night of Riots After Police Shooting of Daunte Wright

Ben & Jerry's declares 'murder' of Daunte Wright is 'rooted in white supremacy,' demands defunding police

Quote:The city manager of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota told Fox News Tuesday night that he still has integrity despite losing his job Monday after calling for due process for the police officer that shot Duante Wright.

“I lost my job, but I still have my integrity,” former City Manager Curt Boganey told Fox News in a statement, Tucker Carlson revealed on his Tuesday night show.

Carlson said that Fox News invited Boganey on air, but he was hesitant to make any media appearances.

Boganey was fired from his job by the Brooklyn Center City Council after saying that the police officer who shot Duante Wright should have due process.

“All employees working for the city of Brooklyn Center are entitled to due process with respect to discipline,” Boganey said Monday at a press conference. “This employee will receive due process and that’s all that I can say today.”

“If I were to answer that question, I’d be contradicting what I said a moment ago — which is to say that all employees are entitled to due process and after that due process, discipline will be determined,” Boganey told a reporter who asked him about his personal views of the case. “If I were to say anything else, I would actually be contradicting the idea of due process.”

The city council removed Boganey at an emergency meeting after he refused to fire Potter. At the meeting, they also gave authority over the police department to Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott.

City Council member Kris Lawrence-Anderson said after the meeting that she thought Boganey was “doing a great job,” but she “didn’t want repercussions at a personal level.”

RE: Here We Go Again...LEO Involved Shooting In Minnesota
Quote:Former Brooklyn Center Police Officer Kimberly Potter was charged with second-degree manslaughter, Washington County Attorney Peter Orput announced Wednesday.

Potter, 48, was taken into custody by agents of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and taken to jail where she will await her first court appearance in the shooting death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright.

“Certain occupations carry an immense responsibility and none more so than a sworn police officer,” said Imran Ali, Washington County assistant criminal division chief and director of the Major Crime Unit. “With that responsibility comes a great deal of discretion and accountability. We will vigorously prosecute this case and intend to prove that Officer Potter abrogated her responsibility to protect the public when she used her firearm rather than her taser. Her action caused the unlawful killing of Mr. Wright and she must be held accountable. County Attorney Peter Orput and I met with the family, expressed our deepest sympathies and assured them we would spare no resources in seeking justice for Mr. Wright.”

According to the criminal complaint, at 1:53 p.m. Sunday, Brooklyn Center Police Officer Anthony Luckey and his field training officer, Potter, pulled over a white Buick at 63rd and Orchard Avenues North in Brooklyn Center. Officer Luckey checked Wright’s identification and determined he had a warrant for a gross misdemeanor weapons charge.

At 2:01:31, Officer Luckey and Potter approached the driver’s side of the car and asked Wright to get out and place his hands behind his back. Wright did so. Officer Luckey told him he was being arrested for his outstanding warrant, the complaint states.

Both Wright and Officer Luckey were standing just outside of the driver’s side door, which was open, and Potter was standing behind and to the right of the other officer. At 2:01:49, Wright pulled away from the officers and got back into the driver’s seat of his car, with Officer Luckey trying to maintain physical control of Wright, according to the criminal complaint.

At 2:01:55, Potter said she would tase Wright. She pulled her Glock 9mm handgun with her right hand and pointed it at Wright, saying again that she would tase him. At 2:02, Potter said “Taser, Taser, Taser,” and pulled the trigger on her handgun at 2:02:01, firing one round into the left side of the victim, the complaint states.

Wright immediately said, “ah, he shot me,” and the car sped away for a short distance before crashing into another vehicle and stopping. An ambulance was called and Wright was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the complaint.

After firing her gun, Potter said “****, I just shot him!”

A Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator examined Potter’s duty belt and saw that the handgun is holstered on the right side of the belt and her Taser is on the left side. The grips or handles of both the gun and Taser face Potter’s rear. The Taser is yellow with a black grip. Also, the Taser is set in a straight-draw position, meaning Potter would have to use her left hand to pull the Taser out of its holster, according to the complaint.

On Monday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Wright died of a gunshot wound and the death was a homicide.

The fact that a 26 year veteran police officer could not tell that she had her service weapon pointed at a subject... instead of YELLOW colored taser... should scare the hell out of everyone. We should all hope that in any encounter with a LEO we don't get approached by someone like her. There is no excuse for the poor situational procedures displayed by ALL of these officers. There was a 26 year vet and a Sargent(Supervisor) present. Its astounding the total incompetence of the 3 officers at this scene. Mr. Wright should not have resisted arrest. We all know this would have ended if he did...but...these officers were completely incompetent in their duties.

And yet, the same thing happened just a few months before, but the victim was white so you didn't hear about it.

And the rest of us would comply and not force a police officer to pull a taser or weapon. So no, we would not be scared. We would think there's a serious flaw in training or procedures when that happens.

Just imagine if she only had a gun and didnt have to worry about a taser....

I personally think holstering a taser is dumb

On a personal note, i have been tinkering with various detainment tools.

RE: Here We Go Again...LEO Involved Shooting In Minnesota
I am going to go ahead and speak my peace. Daunte Wright was a thug, and died a thug, as he played stupid games and won a stupid prize.

The police officer made a horrible mistake and, in my opinion, should never be a police woman ever again, and I am not overly upset that she was charged with 2nd Degree manslaughter. Her life is ruined.

What I am furious about is the race-baiting and "driving while black" nonsense driven by the media, as if this was some planned execution of a not so model citizen. It was a horrible mistake made by the police woman in a situation that a thug made much worse by trying to flee. To make more of this from an intent standpoint is utter crap, and is in line with the continual Balkanization of this once great country.

Of course it should scare the hell out of people. But anyone who has ever been in a intense, adrenaline-filled situation can understand what happened to her. I agree, they screwed up bad in pretty much every aspect of that arrest. If they had been tested on that scenario in training, they would have failed, they did almost everything wrong.

RE: Here We Go Again...LEO Involved Shooting In Minnesota

Quote:A white protester in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, must have been scratching his head extra hard Thursday night after he was caught on video getting verbally taken apart by a group of irate black protesters who ordered him to leave the area.

What are the details?
The clip posted by the Washington Examiner's Nic Rowan shows at least four black protesters — three men and one woman — cursing out the lone white protester.

"If we f***ed you up, that would be wrong, right?" one man holding a water bottle asks the white protester.
"That would be wrong," the white protester responds.

Soon a voice from side bellows out, "Alright then shut the f*** up and protest, *****!"

The man then tells the white protester, "If y'all like that s**t, go that way." Presumably from the text accompanying the video, some protesters were upset at their comrades who were throwing water bottles at police.

Suddenly a woman — who delivered the most stinging rebukes — tells the white protester, "You're a guest in a black space, remember that! You're white; you already don't belong! if you can't be a guest in a black space, get the f*** out!"

After a pause, the white protester tries to explain himself, "I'm not trying to—"

Then the woman interrupts him, "But you are! So get the f*** out!"

The man then issues a warning to the white protester, who still isn't leaving: "You're still arguing, so I'm gonna tell you one more time, and then I'm not gonna talk to you. Go that way."

The woman then orders the white protester that he and his "compadres" need to "go find y'all some other f***ing business, 'cause you're clearly here for the wrong motherf***ing reasons. Get the f*** out!"

With that, the white protester finally takes the hint and walks away, and the clip ends. (Content warning: Language):

But there appears to be a problem
Rowan noted in his above tweet that white protesters had been telling other protesters to not throw water bottles at police — and one might assume by the riot act the white protester was read that he was a guilty party.

However, another clip appeared to show that same white protester confronting another white protester for throwing a water bottle at cops.

(Content warning: Language):

The second clip shows a white protester in a beige jacket looking from side to side before launching what appears to be a water bottle over a fence toward police.

With that it appears the white protester who soon would get eviscerated by the black protesters confronted the guy for chucking the bottle. "Don't throw s**t," he tells him.

So it's not clear why the black protesters were so angry with the white protester who apparently was attempting to keep things peaceful.

Some Twitter users found the cognitive dissonance of whole thing rather telling:

"They are realizing it's stupid-ass white liberals instigating s**t and ruining the message," one commenter said. "Finally."
"Just recently they caught on that BLM was mostly comprised of white left-wing trust-fund babies," another user wrote. "Notice how they are campaigning lately in the news showing it is completely a black movement now?"
"Antifa is going to have a hard time with this one," another commenter observed. "They are all over Twitter cursing out 'action policing' but now they have POC protestors telling white protestors how to protest. Wonder how they will demonize the POC 'action policing.' F*** Antifa. Stop hijacking peaceful protests."
What's the background?
Thursday marked the fifth straight night of protests in Brooklyn Center following the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old black man, by a police officer during a traffic stop Sunday.

Wright resisted arrest and was fatally shot by Officer Kim Potter, who said she intended to use her Taser but mistakenly grabbed her service weapon instead.

Authorities said Wright had expired vehicle tags — and it was reported that at the time of the traffic stop he had an outstanding warrant on an attempted robbery charge over an incident during which he allegedly choked a woman and held her at gunpoint.

Potter resigned Tuesday, along with Police Chief Tim Gannon, who was ordered by news conference attendees the previous day to refrain from referring to the post-shooting riot as a "riot." Just after the fatal shooting, a protester on a bullhorn urged a growing crowd to dox police, post photos of their families on social media, and "start doin' pull ups to their house."

In response to the fatal shooting, U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) called for the end of policing and incarceration, claiming law enforcement systems are so broken they "can't be reformed." President Joe Biden backed away from Tlaib's declaration.

RE: Here We Go Again...LEO Involved Shooting In Minnesota

Quote:Police declared an unlawful assembly during the sixth night of protests outside the Brooklyn Center police headquarters in Minnesota. On Saturday, authorities said 136 people were arrested Friday night in connection with the demonstration.

“Their actions dictate our response, and our response is to keep this city safe and the police department safe,” Sheriff David Hutchinson of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office stated.

In a joint press conference, Operation Safety Net said approximately 500 people gathered around the center. Officials explained the situation became disorderly as protesters began to shake the barricade and throw objects at officers, including rocks and soup cans.

Following several orders from law enforcement and National Guard members to disperse, officers were forced to use crowd control measures including tear gas and flash-bangs.

“If we want change in policing, we want reform in policing, let’s do that, let’s get together and start reform,” Hutchinson said. “The profession, this profession needs help. We can admit that, we’re not perfect, we can be better. But these people are not people that you should be supporting.”

Friday night marked the sixth consecutive night of demonstrations at the police headquarters following the death of 20-year-old Duante Wright, who was fatally shot during a traffic stop.

Authorities emphasized they did not want to use any force, as several city officials and community organizers continue to call for peace.

“So I’m here to say please stay peaceful, and the people who are intent on causing harm, you’re going to find yourself where you are tonight, in the Hennepin County Jail,” Hutchinson stated.

RE: Here We Go Again...LEO Involved Shooting In Minnesota
Quote:A group of mostly black citizens is working together to keep the peace in Brooklyn Center and Minneapolis, Minnesota, following more than a week of riots, driven, in part, by “anti-fascist” elements that have escalated demonstrations against racism and police brutality into riots.

The group calls itself the Minnesota Freedom Fighters, according to the Associated Press, and while heavily armored and, in some cases are also armed, they say they are there to keep the peace between police and protesters and ensure that demonstrations do not escalate into violence.

“As protests intensified in the Minneapolis suburb where a police officer fatally shot Daunte Wright, a group of Black men joined the crowd intent on keeping the peace and preventing protests from escalating into violence,” the outlet noted.

“The Black men at the edge of the crowd wear yellow patches on protective vests that identify them as members of the Minnesota Freedom Fighters, a group formed to provide security in Minneapolis’ north side neighborhoods during unrest following the death of George Floyd last year,” the AP continued. ‘They are not shy about casting a forceful image — the group’s Facebook page features members posing with assault-style weapons and describes itself as an ‘elite security unit’ — but on Friday the Freedom Fighters didn’t appear to be armed and said they intended only to encourage peaceful protesting.”

The group has a uniform and yellow badges, and they communicate with each other from positions around the protests, working to stop violent and destructive incidents before they invite a police response.

“As several people began to rattle a fence protecting the Brooklyn Center police department, the Freedom Fighters communicated to each other over walkie-talkies,” the Associated Press noted. “On recent nights, the Freedom Fighters have moved through the crowd in formation, wearing body armor and dark clothing, weaving past umbrella-wielding demonstrators to create separation along a double-layer perimeter security fence. Their passive tactics are intended to deescalate the tension, preventing agitators from pressing forward and provoking the law enforcement officers standing at attention with pepper-ball and less-lethal sponge grenade launchers at the ready.”

“We can keep it peaceful,” one member of the group told the media, adding that they believe the violence and provocation detract from the overall message of the demonstrations. “There’s always somebody in the group that wants to incite something.”

Although the Minnesota Freedom Fighters stopped short of pointing fingers at “Antifa,” or “anti-Fascist” protesters, many of whom are white, the Associated Press notes that the Freedom Fighters have clashed with black-clad agitators intent on inciting violence.

“The Freedom Fighters have clashed this week with umbrella-carrying demonstrators intent on provoking law enforcement officers. On Saturday, members of the group removed a group of demonstrators who had tried to cut the chains connecting the fencing outside the police department,” AP reported.

This is not the first time minority residents of a neighborhood have worked to shut down riots and destructive efforts aimed at using anti-racism and anti-police brutality demonstrations as cover to instigate a confrontation with law enforcement. Last summer, black residents of Chicago gathered to demanded self-described “BLM” protesters, many of whom were white, leave their neighborhoods and stop defending rioters and looters.

Minneapolis is expecting unrest later this week, in the event a jury returns a verdict in the case of Derek Chauvin, who is accused of killing George Floyd back in May of last year — an incident that set off a wave of anti-racism and anti-police brutality protests nationwide, many of which eventually gave way to riots.

Daunte Wright, 20, 'left a man in vegetative state in one of two shootings' before he was killed by veteran Minneapolis cop in Taser mix-up, lawsuit docs reveal

Quote:allegations have surfaced in two different lawsuits filed against Wright's estate that allege he was involved in the shooting of two men, including one that left the victim permanently disabled and another that occurred just three weeks before his death.

Quote:The latest lawsuit was filed on Tuesday and alleges that Wright was one of two men involved in a carjacking on March 21 that left the victim, Joshua Hodges, with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Hodges allegedly recognized Wright because they had gone to the same middle school.

According to the lawsuit, Wright and the other man approached Hodges while he was sitting in his car.

The other man opened his car door and shot Hodges in the leg. Wright then leaned in and allegedly assaulted him before stealing the victim's wallet and cellphone. Wright allegedly then also stole the victim's car.

The lawsuit says Hodges spent two weeks in hospital recovering from his gunshot wound injuries.

Quote:The second lawsuit, which was filed last month, relates to the shooting of Caleb Livingston back in May 2019.

It alleges that Wright shot the then-teenager in the head and left him permanently disabled.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Livingston's mother, Jennifer LeMay, who claims her son, who is now 18, was once friends with Wright.

The lawsuit alleges the pair had a 'falling out' that came to a head after her son beat up Wright in front of a group. Wright allegedly retaliated by shooting Livingston outside a gas station in Minneapolis.

The shooting is still an open investigation and no one has been charged.
