That will certainly boost the O part of OPS.
A charitable group these Owls.

Batting avg - 0.254 vs 0.303
OPS - 0.724 vs 0.910
ERA - 7.92 vs 4.10
Fielding % - 0.962 vs 0.977
Ouch! And today’s game won’t help. 13-4 final for the ugly sweep.
None of this is all that surprising, but batting average and fielding percentage are really poor measures of success. A team full of Joey Gallo, Matt Olson, Rhys Hoskins would have a terrible AVG but an excellent overall offense. That same team might put up a great Fielding % but a million balls would fall in the gaps and roll unmolested through holes in the infield due to the lumbering nature of the players.
OPS and ERA are better, but far from perfect.
All that said, we obviously suck big time.
A couple of you were hitting on the free passes. Here's the season stats, that do show up in AVG/OPS:
Rice
Walks 119
HBP (as batter) 21
Wild Pitches (as pitcher) 44
Opponents
Walks 143
HBP 44
Wild Pitches 35
Interestingly, Rice has more unearned runs scored than opponents. I'm not sure I was expecting that stat.
Rice has scored 163 runs, of which 141 are earned (22 unearned runs)
Opponents have scored 200 runs, of which 185 are earned (15 unearned runs)

Don't forget about the ample number of passed balls, wild pitches and even a balk (to score a run). This has been an issue since the 3rd week of the season.

Too many shortfalls to count.
It stinks because he’s a nice guy, but he is anything but cut out for the big times. Crash and burn at its finest. We run the risk of digging an insurmountable hole without moving on before next season. Patrick and Lance should be getting interviews the day the season ends.

Who would have thought 5 years ago that La Tech would sweep Rice 4 games and not move up in RPI (actually dropped one spot Saturday after winning doubleheader) and Rice would move up 4 spots?

I think you need to go back 6 or 7 years for that comment to be true. LaTech was better than us during Wayne's final two seasons.

Great stat pull Owls Is In Chains.
Was anyone boots on the ground during the weekend and Tuesday night? I have been passing judgement from afar this year and am curious if the product in person is better than the box score and Twitter/Instagram highlights.
