That purdy cheerleader in front I've known since she was a baby. Truly a GS dynasty and something to be very proud of. Way to go Eagles! GATA!

A bit curious about the size of the field.

A high school I used to teach at would head to a national competition in Myrtle Beach and they often won. I was curious and went digging around and what was happening was the various schools were broken down into so many categories that about 1/2 the schools were national champs.

That is not to say that GaSo was not deserving and there seems to be at least three schools competing in their grouping. But was this against 3 schools or 300?

And I need to say congratulations.

Maybe this gives some perspective:

Thanks for the link.

So they came in 13th in the overall score and won 1 of 25 different categories it seems, and the category they won had at least 4 teams but not sure if there were more than 4.

I wonder what the difference between Advanced and Intermediate is and Division I and IA. The All-Girl part make sense, though I am surprised they used that terminology for what would be very few post-secondary participants that are under 18, and by this time of the academic year even less likely.

GaSo still won something so congrats on that.

Number of total teams was down significantly this year, covid related I'm sure. There are usually about a dozen teams in each division.

The different between advanced and intermediate has to do with the type of stunts and tumbling that is allowed in the routine.
The thing is, once you move up to advanced, the teams who traditionally do well are teams that give scholarships to its athletes. At this competition, coaches for teams like Louisville (they are the "Bama" of college cheerleading) will watch the intermediate level teams to scout potential athletes that they can lure away with scholarships.

I’m disappointed that not one clever remark about Coastal made this thread.

This is basically claiming we traveled to Daytona.

Where was App’s team? Why didn’t they win anything if it’s so easy?

I wonder if it cost money to enter this competition or if the honor of being part of this competition is earned by winning something previous. NCAA championships are earned but just getting in is earned even if the school loses in round one (or the play-in round god forbid.)

I said congratulations but lets put this in perspective for what this is. One can still be proud of what was earned at the competition and realize how it all came about.

To answer your question our cheerleaders may have thought it was not worth the money to attend. App has won some of these over the years and likely under very similar circumstances.

There's a reason programs like App states choose not to participate.

Great stuff. I'd rather watch that than the Daytona invitational.

My sister used to compete in "national" competitions as a high schoolers, the entire concept of it being a national championship is a great marketing scam for the people putting on the competitions.

Really the only people making money are the host of the CFP?

This is a reach of a post even by your standards.

How is it a reach? The CFP is an organization outside of the NCAA that invites teams to compete and calls its winner “the national champion.”

Don’t know what money has to do with it. Also confused on why you’re so obsessed with this thread.
