Thought for sure we had blown it... Then Polley hit that 3 and we got the turn over, and I was like holy crap, we have a shot! Loved to see us finally pull one out against Nova, hope this is the type of W that really builds confidence for this team late in games. We still seem a little hesitant at times.
Thought the court storm was a bit amateurish, lol. But can't blame the students for being excited!

Congrats on then big win. I watched the last two minutes or so. Exciting vibe.

Didn't see the Hurley ejection. Was it merited?
Thought I responded to this earlier, apparently I forgot to hit "post." Damn night shifts are getting to me, lol.
Hell no, it was not merited. The first T was, Hurley was going off on the guy for multiple possessions, and enough is enough. But the 2nd he was literally just pumping up the crowd, dude does it all the time. One would think an official that routinely does Big East games would know that's kind of his thing.
Honestly though, it seemed to fire the team and the crowd up, and that ref definitely gave us some calls after the, "REF YOU SUCK" chants started raining down on him. It worked out in the end, lol

From how you describe it, that second T seemed unwarranted, indeed.
My take is that Hurley might have a reputation as being antagonistic and disdainful of referees. His body language and expressions border on confrontational. If I'm correct, the refs might be more quick to T him than otherwise. In general (and during games, at least) Hurely comes across as cocky and jerk-ish (from what little I've seen of him over the years). But I could say the same thing about many coaches.
Regardless, Hurely has done a strong job. You should be excited about the UConn future.
Always good to have you on the board, Nameless.

He definitely has a rep, and that rep is definitely warranted. I can't get inside the ref's head, but I think it is likely he was quick to T him up for this reason, especially in front of a home crowd like that. I've officiated before (at a much lower level obviously) and can tell you even if you do not remotely care about the opinions of the fans, it is no fun having a bunch of people ride you for a couple hours. I think he saw the body language, figured if he didn't get on top of Hurley a bit he would lose control of the arena and have to deal with the fans all night responding to how Hurley acts on the sidelines... But it back fired when he gave him that 2nd T, lol. Fans were immediately on him and some calls really started going our way.
Trying to post more! Night shifts are really getting to me. Desperately trying to get off but need to wait for a day shift to open up somewhere in the region :\

It's possible Hurley wanted to be tossed, knowing it would ignite the fans. Shrewd move if so as it seemed to work.
Definitely good luck with landing a day shift. I appreciate your contributions to the board (and particularly the AAC and Big East forums).

Honestly I don't think it was intentional, he seemed shocked he got ejected. Think it was more "dumb luck" lol.
Appreciate it! Really am trying to post more, on both boards. Just completely out of it most days due to a lack of sleep. Been doing this since May now, so hopefully I'm off by the 1 year mark!
