Our’s is under the thumb of Beijing, with CCP officials showering praise on our president.

McPhee has also worked to strengthen MTSU's international undergraduate and graduate student enrollment, expanded its study-abroad and cultural opportunities and developed research collaboration with international partners.[1] China Agricultural University in Beijing awarded McPhee its highest academic award (Honorary Professor) in May 2007.[1] He was appointed in October 2010 as senior advisor to the Chief Executive of Hanban-Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing.[1] A book of his photographic essays, China: Through the Eyes of A University President[1], published in July 2012, was sponsored by the Hanban-Confucius Institute and released internationally.[1]

Confucius institutes! Not good!

No, it has been a LOT worse. They could not even procure a FREE law school that was coming our way from Valparaiso. UT folks shot it down (and undergraduate UT student was one of the votes),

BOT chair is best friends with our AD. Second in command on BOT is very good friends with President. Good 'ole boy network.

KajunRaider: Our BOT did not lose the Law School. They voted to accept Valpo's Law School. THEC had the ultimate power not our BOT. When the matter was presented to THEC, the UT student 03-puke and the former Mayor of Memphis 03-nutkick ( A. C. Wharton, acting on behalf of U of M), the Comptroller of the State of TN (a Vandy Grad 01-wingedeagle) and a couple of other UT Law folks; all voted
"No" to insure that Little Middle stays in our place. The failure was McPhee's inability to persuade THEC. He also never attempted an arrangement with Nashville School of Law (unlike his predecessor, Dr. James Walker). His failure to acquire a Law School before Belmont and Lincoln Memorial opened up shows how short sighted our President is.

Until we get more representation within the state legislature (i.e. grads with law degrees), I'm afraid it will be more of the same.

This is the worst period, athletically, at MT in my memory (mid-70's). How those in power remain in power is certainly a conundrum.

I have lost interest.

I'm too old to lose interest (although my current level of interest is on life support). But, I agree that we need more MT alums with Law degrees in our state legislature. We also need less people in the legislature who kneel to UT. Not sure that will ever happen either.
Sorry to read all that. Seems like the homegrown makings are there for success (middle TN growth). Just need to put it all together, and that starts with leadership...hopefully, sooner rather than later.
