I didn't watch much Baylor this season except for their loss against Kansas, but watched the last two and they are no doubt the best team in basketball. Zags would lose 8 out of 10 against these guys and that's generous.

Adam Flagler from Presbyterian

Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua from unlv

(Mitchell is a transfer too but he was at auburn)

Right, Mitchell and Butler are transfers but not from a non-power conference.

So three transfers from small schools and a bench guy from auburn.

I watched a ton of both teams. Gonzaga had a bad night. I still think they were the best team but Baylor was the only team in their stratosphere all year. They weren't the same post covid and I stupidly didn't ride them in the tournament because of that. They played like precovid Baylor the entire tournament. Hell of a performance from Baylor. Made a great Gonzaga team look bad tonight

Not a fan of Baylor due to the way they've run their athletic department in the past. Would have loved to see Mark Few and Gonzaga hang their first national championship banner. At the very least, wish this could have been the tight game this had the potential to be. That said, I have nothing against Scott Drew or the players on his team, and they were clearly the best team in this tournament from start to finish. Very impressive run

Point taken, but UNLV isn't exactly a small school in the vein of Presbyterian and UNC-Asheville.

RE: Countdown to the 2021 National Champions
After Mick took Gonzaga to overtime and it took an almost miracle shot to win, I told my wife that Baylor was going to kick butt IF, AND ONLY IF, the refs didn’t call a tight game. When Gonzaga ran into teams that were “tough”, they lacked the ability to put their big boy pants on.

Gonzaga is very skilled, but they lack back street fighter players. They have none of them.

I was rooting for Baylor since Teague is a Cincinnati guy. I always root for local people regardless of where they end up.

I will give you Presbyterian and Ashville. UNLV isn't really a small school. And Mitchell came off the bench as a freshman for a top 20 Auburn team. He was a top 75 recruit out of high school.

You raise a very good point about Baylor’s past issues. I sincerely hope that stuff is cleared up and those who were responsible are held accountable.

You'll give me Presbyterian and Ashville? How big of you.

Unlv hasn't been a top 100 team since..

But even so my point is Baylor found key transfers even from small schools to help them get a championship.

LOL, yes, they did, you are correct, Flagler and Teague were from small schools. Have a good evening.

I love that you'll argue a point to its end, Mark, but UNLV's athletic department budget was $43 million last year. Presbyterian was $6.6 million.

Gonzaga has spent the year switching on perimeter screens, and they got roasted trying that tonight.

This is a great point. The NCAA tournament is all about matchups. I think Gonzaga would have handled OSU, Illinois, or Houston if that ended up being the matchup (just mentioning those 3 teams since they were the 1/2 seeds on the opposite side of the bracket). But Baylor just has too many quick, skilled guards for a team like Gonzaga to match up with defensively. Despite my personal bias (not a fan of Baylor as I mentioned earlier), Baylor is about as deserving of a champion as we've had in recent memory. They ran through the entire season ranked in the top 3 and knocked off an undefeated team who held the #1 ranking from start to finish. Baylor is a great team with great guard play, which is a recipe for tournament success.

I didn't ride them either however their Defense Efficiency dropped from Top 10 to 44 in Kenpom. Baylor D was awful against Oklahoma St. in Big 12 Tourney. I started using Kenpom Efficiency ratings in 2015 for my Brackets and I made the $ 5 Straight years, until this year. I would have won over $1000 in 3 different Pools had Gonzaga won. However I did win around $400 when Baylor won tonight on a Futures Bet and a 3Leg Parlay.

I completely forgot that our former big man target Zach Loveday ended up at Baylor last year.

I remember Brannen making a big push for him even though I don't think we made his final list.

Looks like he did well in very limited minutes this season.

Baylor played chest to chest defense for most of the first half and the officials allowed it, Suggs got 2 quick fouls and he was the most talented player on the floor, and Baylor made a ton of threes early.

Thats been one of my most disenfranchising points with college sports. Where a team can cut their teeth by defending, get to the national stage, and get penalized for what they practiced.
