UB has been too successful. Losing Men's Basketball and FB coaches. Unfortunately that's the life of MAC schools. Any MAC fans who think their successful head coach is not gonna take the money is not following the many past examples.

Only realistic way that doesn't happen is if you pick up a Solich type later in their career who's content to spend the rest of it in the MAC, but a retread is far from a given to stay competitive. L

Let's be real too, basically all P5 schools face this as well. Lower ones get poached all the time and even a blue blood like KU hoops lost Roy Williams way back. Of course an AD can try hiring an alum or local with more of an interest in career stability, but that doesn't mean they'll stick around. And at the end of the day you want a coach who wins, not someone loyal to you who's mediocre on the field or court.

Quote:So - Lester has second-best winning percentage of active MAC coaches...

Problem is, he didn't go thru a losing season nor was in position to have one. He took over an undefeated MAC championship team with talent left over, and only went 6-6.

He's not a bad MAC coach, don't get me wrong. But he's basically a guy who's not going to carry us over 8-4, except for maybe 1 year if he stays around a long while -- all while being able to keep us at or usually above .500.
