Exclusive Interview: W&M esports Team
Curious to hear folks' thoughts on this from these boards, especially as we have some members of the Olde Guarde. We've done our best to update you as best we can on the subject matter if you're unaware! Feel free to ask questions as well on this thread.

W&M esports has OFFICIALLY established a base in MORTON. Yes, that Morton -- but trust us, it's NOT about what happens in Morton itself, it's about what happens in DIGITAL REALITY (in Morton).

Learn all about this new initiative at W&M, and what it means for the school's future in digital technology education (hint: it's all connected) -- LET'S GO TRIBE

I'm still not going to claim I entirely understand the appeal, but esports are becoming incredibly popular, so it seems good for a college to be proactive in creating a team.

100% -- it's something that will be mostly understood by the "older" generations, but will become a predominant way of communication and experience from here on out for the younger generations and beyond (think: AR, VR experiences, virtual worlds, etc.)

Exclusive Interview: W&M esports Team
This whole Esports thing has me scratching my head in confusion. It just leads me to believe that I'm getting old.

I don't get it either, but I see kids watching videos of other people playing games, so it's not hard to see the market.

When I was a kid I watched Sports Illustrated highlight videotapes, and I'm sure there were people wondering why you would want to watch highlights of players doing things over and over.

Talent is talent. Whether in Sports, Science, Art, Medicine, Acting...or online Gaming. People like to watch other people who are way above average at their craft, especially if they have tried said endeavor and have realized that it may not be the way that they, themselves, have as a future revenue producer.
(We all have our niche.)
