It’s obviously not an issue if Lamar came back and UIW never left.

WAC membership means a lot more expense and lost class time, which a lot of college presidents pay attention to. if someone wanted more competition, they could easily schedule tougher non conference games.

TBF, the league never had prospects of returning to FBS. That died back in 2012-13 and is not coming back.

You know that, and I know that... But some schools really thought it was going to happen. I mean, I like Southern Utah because they are in my state, but they had no chance to go FBS.

If the WAC loses all the Texas schools to the Southland? They could grab the three GNAC football members, Colorado Mesa and CSU-Peublo and then they can grab Northern Colorado. Southland still can go past 12 to 16. Grab schools like West Texas A&M, Angelo State, Arkansas Tech, Central Oklahoma, UAFS and Cameron.

Then you can move the none football schools into a new conference in the region. WAC could be the new entry way for football in the west.

Nope, none of that is happening.

That would give the Southland 10 FB members and 12 BB, both of which are good numbers to stop at. And then it'll almost be like this silly WAC adventure never happened!

Wouldn’t surprise me a bit to see them leave. It was a completely illogical move from day 1, and with Lamar and SH gone, SFA sits all alone. No matter how much “stay the course” they talk, they are sitting their with egg on their face and haven’t figured out what to do about it yet.

ACU is a slightly different bird, and I can see them sticking with the WAC a little longer, at least until most of the conference jumping works itself out and then they will take any non Southland option that is available I would expect.

Poor leadership at all these schools in this fiasco. Waste of everyone’s time. Nothing but flakes. Wish they’d never come to the WAC.

NMSU, Sam Houston and Tarleton were the only schools eager to jump to FBS.

I doubt it means any difference in class time. The Southland and WAC both played Thursday/Saturday basketball schedule.

From San Antonio to Orem or Natchitoches will take a good share of Thursday to get to the first game on Thursday night. Stay overnight in a hotel and travel on Friday to Seattle or Hammond. Perhaps a bit of free time to sight-see. Overnight in the hotel. Play the second game on Saturday. Perhaps you can travel back to San Antonio on Saturday if it is an afternoon game. Otherwise you return on Sunday. Two weekdays missed in either case.

Perhaps when UIW would play Tarleton and ACU or HBU and Lamar you could return to San Antonio for Friday classes.

NMSU was already FBS.

Believe the point trying to be made by the OP was that NMSU was joined by Sam Houston and Tarleton in wanting to see the WAC make the move as a league to the FBS level.

NMSU wanted a league and until the CUSA invite recently, did not have a league. They do now.
