Being from Virginia and the proximity of ODU and NSU, I'm rooting for them.

Does the winner of the play in game get an extra NCAA Unit for "advancing"? Or do they have to win the play in game just to earn the very first unit?

Somebody that worked for the SWAC told me — this about 4-5 years ago — that the play-in game counts as a Unit. Can’t swear he was right, but he did say it + he was a smart guy, and knowing how crucial the play-ins are for HBCUs, I think it’s probably true.

Kind of lame then. If that's the case I wish our conference champ played in the play in game every year.

RE: NCAA Tourney Thread
Yes, for example DRAKE will earn two units for the MVC even if they lose to USC. Loyola-Chicago also brings in a min. of one unit. The MVC already has three even if both lose their next outing. The 2019 NCAA single unit amount was 1.67 million paid to the participating conference over a six year period. Each conference decides how that money is divided but many/most do not just divide it up equally. Oftentimes the conference rep. gets a higher share. Also the amount usually goes up slightly every year and can change significantly whenever there is a new tourney contract deal.

Sun Belch champ couldn’t beat the lowly MEAC champ. Speaks volumes.

I'm not going to talk any trash yet since we could lose by 30 tomorrow night. I would take solace that we lost to a 4 seed though.

If they could make it the last four in game, I’d take that. I don’t want us walking into a 1 seed though. We have a fighting chance at the sweet sixteen with a 12-14 seed at least.

You don’t get to talk **** when you have a 4 year run that was preceded by one appearance in a 25 year span. I didn’t care too much about teams winning or losing in this tournament, but you’ve definitely given me a team to pull against at this point.

I'm simply wondering where this so-called legendary UAB basketball program is at.

Who called it legendary? Why come to a message board and talk crap to people in another conference?
