Actually...maybe.

Nathan Scott enters the portal as well as a grad transfer (then again...he's still technically a senior, so...).

I wish them both luck but I just don't see a better opportunity for either of them than NIU. Granted, Lee still has a couple years remaining but if he can't stay healthy and, from everything I've heard is he's not ever going to be fully healthy, then he's just not going to be very attractive to many programs better than NIU (that can also give him regular playing time).

Either way, one extra scholarship opened up (they were already getting one for Scott as a senior any way so it doesn't really matter that he's leaving from a scholarship standpoint).

When I read this I said "who?" Shows my 2021 disinterest in this team. I turned it off after the Chicago St game which had like 7 or 8 players and NIU barely won.

Time to reload. It will take time.

He's been on the team for 3 years but asking "who?" isn't a surprise since he's rarely seen the court do to a litany of injuries. He's one of those guys who was really talented and could have been a difference maker (and possibly a job saver for Montgomery) but he has chronic back, knee, and (I think) ankle issues that keep him off the court for extended periods of time.

Him leaving is a blessing to the new coach as he just kind of occupies a scholarship and hardly ever plays.

But Chicago State has 2 guys from ELAC... I would have watched that game had I realized that earlier. Just finished Last Chance U Basketball and it was great IMO. Well worth a watch.

Funny,

State only had 2 guys who could score and NIU couldn't stop 1 of them down the stretch until state made a couple dumb mistakes within 2 minutes remaining; letting NIU off the hook.

The Huskies were so incredibly bad this year. Very difficult to impossible to watch those games. We have nowhere to go but up.

I wish I had a dime for every time I've said that over the past 15 years. Still a true statement though.
