As much as I love Denise, I found myself rooting for Delaware and the CAA in this one. Delaware beat Pitt and St. John's early in the year. And they beat Fordham, Clemson, and Villanova in the WNIT and is now 24-4. So watching Delaware's run this year makes Drexel's win in the CAA Championship Game all that more impressive.

Side note...not sure who funded and produced the broadcast (WNIT or FloSports), but that was the lowest quality broadcast I've seen for a college sporting event, maybe ever. There was ONE camera. Even the 90's Drexel games on DUTV and Wade Cablevision, and our local high school games on public access, I think all were better quality.

Reminds me of our run the year we won the WNIT.

Yep, and the irony was that Drexel just barely missed beating nationally ranked Delaware in the championship game, losing to them by 3. Delaware hosted the NCAA Tournament and went to the Sweet 16, Drexel won the WNIT. It was a win win for both teams that year. If Delaware wins the WNIT this year, we could say the same. In that case, I'll be rooting for them.

Had a typo/brain freeze......UD going to the semifinals of the WNIT.

It also shows me that Delaware and the CAA got hosed by not getting an at-large invite to the NCAA Tournament.

I can't actively root for Delaware. However, I won't be upset if they won the NIT

RE: Women's NCAA Tournament - First Round vs. Georgia
I am glad Delaware bounced back from the championship loss and is doing well in the WNIT. They were a really good team. However they didnt play enough OOC games or good ones to give them any real consideration for an at large. I think most of us realize we are the best defensive team in the conference, but Delaware was the best overall this season.

On the UGA game, I tend to agree. I am not sure how this UGA team did so well against SEC teams (Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina). To win or compete with some of those powerhouses is quite telling, but I did not see it yesterday. I understand Staiti scoring a lot, she has a nice shot and is 6'4", but I agree her movement was atrocious. But when you can shoot over everyone at a high clip, you will be a leading scorer regardless. We defender her great in the post and she was frustrated, unfortunately we did so well that the 2nd half she stayed away from the basket and torched us. We were bad on offense (except Nihill) yesterday, and I would have thought that would lead to getting crushed, and was a major concern heading into this matchup. We held our own and played a very good defensive game. But my impression was that had to have just been a bad game for UGA because I dont know how that team would have competed with the top SEC teams, to be honest.

Georgia had the same starting five all season until yesterday. Staiti didn't start due to her medical issue, but did play later and burned us. Another starter, Connally, hurt her ankle and didn't play. She's a double digit scorer and their best 3-point shooter. So her absence clearly had an effect on their team. I guess their a much stronger team when playing at full strength, but they were out of sync in the first half, which allowed Drexel to keep it close.

RE: Women's NCAA Tournament - First Round vs. Georgia
I saw Georgia got knocked out. only by 7 though so it still speaks well for how we matched up.

finally saw a game last night i could get interested in...Texas a & m vs Iowa state. ended up going to overtime. there've been quite a few games similar to ours where somebody gets out to a good start and then fades at the end. this one stayed close.

related to the discussion about equality with the tournament...i have 2 thoughts...

1. hopefully i'll see all the people complaining at some drexel games next year...or at least they'll support their local team. there was talk about a wnba team coming to philly. i'd like to see that happen.

2. understood that revenue from the men could provide equal facilities. does that mandate one sport pay for the other though? i think the women's soccer team has a better argument with this especially with how bad the men's team has been. they're probably bringing in more cash. other women's sports can't make that argument. there might not be a women's tournament at all without the men's revenue.

i just feel like it was the usual social media reaction where people went nuts and didn't look at all the angles. i'm all about equality and we've supported drexel women's basketball as much as the men. what i'd really like to see is full arena/stadiums for women so the discussion can end.

Delaware(24-4) plays Rice(21-4) on Friday. Going just by W and L, it looks like whoever wins this game will win the WNIT.

They're playing the games in a high school gym in Memphis. I wonder what the thinking was behind this decisions when there are literally hundreds of college caliber gyms and arenas that are empty right now.

Drexel remains the only CAA team to win an WNIT Championship.

Michigan women lost by 3 in OT to Baylor. Michigan, as you likely know, beat Georgia in the 2nd round. Performance really shows just how well we played against a good team

My mistake. Not sure why I thought MIchigan beat them.

Oregon lost by 18 last night to Louisville. However, With NC State and Maryland falling, at least some real upsets are happening, even if they werent in the first 2 rounds
