Congrats to DePaul!

Hopefully you can hold on to the incoming recruits. New stadium, new AD, new (hopefully good!) coach

RE: Congrats to DePaul!
it's sure been one heck of a Black Monday in the coaching ranks. hope that doesn't hurt DePaul in trying to get someone. I know I had heard Moser mentioned with Indiana.

I’d be shocked if Moser goes anywhere. I’m betting Payne to DePaul. Indiana isn’t hiring a third straight Midwest Catholic school guy.

RE: Congrats to DePaul!
Porter Moser is my top choice but I would be happy with Kenny Payne. I just posted on the main site.

Heard Payne was the real reason for Kentucky's success and his departure is the main reason they struggled this year. No idea if that's true or not (kind of doubt it unless Payne was with Cal at Memphis as well) but I think both he and Moser would be great hires.

KPayne with not with Cal at Memphis. He likely lured lots of the top players when he worked at Kentucky. I like that Payne now has some NBA experience, which could help in recruiting.

KP is from Miss but played at Louisville (and, of course, coached at UK). He's 54, a good age for a head coach. He has no head coaching experience. Chicago Tribune article suggests he will stay with the Knicks.

Illinois assistant (and former Calipari assistant) Orlando Antiqua is being mentioned.

Antiqua would probably be a solid hire. Would at least help bring in good recruits. Although Leitao seemed to do just that and couldn't succeed, so if he's not a great X's and O's guy it could be more of the same.

Moser is such an obvious slam dunk hire. Not sure why Depaul isn't actively pursuing him unless it's obvious he's not interested or will have better offers after Loyola finishes its season

I would prefer the Cleveland State coach to Stoudamire.

I think having Chicago roots/connections should be priority one. I see that Gates was born there and spent a couple years at NIU. You’d think if he played HS ball there that he would fit the bill on that front.

Good point. From Wiki: "Gates played college basketball at California, where he was a two-time first-team Pac-10 All-Academic selection. He graduated in three years, playing his senior season as a master's degree candidate."

I like that.

Don't know much about either. But as someone who wants Depaul to succeed, I want any guy who's good with X's and O's and can recruit well. Cleveland State guy seems to check at least one of those boxes
