Regarding Thornton Scott... No telling what his plans are. As has been noted, he hasn't entered the transfer portal. That, coupled with no additional activity on social media from other programs, gives me the feel that he is just done with basketball. He very well could continue on as a regular student at the college. I have no idea, and It's none of our business what his academic standing is with the college, if perhaps that was a factor. Maybe basketball is something he will come back to here or elsewhere when he is ready. He'd be a hell of a walk on for any program. He may just be burned out and want to be a plain old college student.

Harvey and Blair have the option for a fifth year, right?

I believe they do, but how it all works is murky.

IMO, we aren't counting on them for a 5th year unless recruiting falls through and their is an open spot. I see a more likely scenario if they want to prolong their college career is that they transfer closer to home as grad transfers

My gut, with no information beyond what we all know, is the same as yours. I wonder if he's just walking away from college basketball.

I can't even imagine the grind these kids (come on, they're kids) go through, let alone when you fight injuries, etc.

Every player that was on a team, during the pandemic, has the "right" to return for an extra year of participation. However, only Luke's senior class were guaranteed to be protected (in that it wouldn't count against the school's scholarship limit of 13).

Side Note: At this point UofR will be able to field a full team of 17 scholarship players next season, as four of their seniors are coming back.

All the players in the under classes, can return, but it is completely dependent on whether the school wants to fund their scholarship for that fifth year. If not, they can go the Grad Transfer route. What I am hearing, so far, is that many schools will be encouraging many of those players to enter the Transfer Portal.

As Mr. J said, it will ultimately come down to player ability and that year's recruiting success...and finances.

+1 to this. Thornton Scott looked like a huge offensive piece at the start of 2018 and 2019 before injuries derailed him both seasons. Given the seemingly endless cycle of getting injured and recovering that he's faced, I wouldn't be surprised if he walked away while he still could. He'll always be a "what could have been" from the seasons where he started off hitting threes from everywhere that would have been a huge floor spacer for Nathan.
