Another example of why they need a really good marketing person in the AD position who can come up with a creative fundraising initiative to continue to raise money for the DAC. They did get a lot of money for the renovation to get it to its current state, but they're clearly not finished.

Yep, same. Always said I'd do it if we won.

RE: caa
Joe Mihalich is leaving his head coaching position and will be transitioned to a special advisor with the school. His health situation no longer allows for him to remain as a head coach.

Mike Farrally ran the program this season and Hofstra clearly had the most disappointing season in the CAA. They were picked to finish 1st, actually finished 4th, and were upset in the semi-finals. So it will be interesting if Farrally gets promoted to head coach or if Hofstra starts to look elsewhere.

RE: caa
it's a new day in the ncaa that we're waiting on transfer portal news.

i feel like wynter, bickerstaff, and bell are the best candidates. i don't think any of them played well enough against better competition to get too many offers. it's hard to predict where somebody's head is though. i go through this with penn state football since they already have at least 5-10 defections every year.

we are definitely well positioned to go on a run between what we bring back and other teams lose. we said that about 10 years ago and it never happened. at least we already have 1 title under our belt. i'm just thrilled to be excited about drexel basketball again. it'll be the first time in a while that i'm excited to hear the schedule and get out to the games.

IF we bring all back we better compete for a title again. Bell looks like a stud. He grew so much through the year already. I do think Cam struggled enough that hopefully the thought disappears in his head of leaving

It comes down to coaching and the quality of the education they are receiving. I would really hope that all of the players had a very positive experience playing for Coach Spiker this year that they would want to continue what they started here. And with every player in the NCAA basically becoming a potential free agent, it doesn't mean that everyone who transfers would have a spot on a Power 6 roster. There's only so many spots available and these power schools are offering scholarships to high school players as well. I feel as though guys who have transferred out of the program in the Spiker either did so because they graduated or weren't getting playing time. They guys who you mention above are all starters who will get the majority of minutes next year.

Likely Scenarios:

If Spiker leaves
If a big school/significantly better mid-major offers( unlikely)
Lack of minutes due to Walton or Butler coming back( I think they both have one year of eligibility right?)
Coletrane and Perry as they didn't play much

Butler was granted an extra year of eligibility before the NCAA granted an extra year for everybody. Most likely, he's coming back since he's already transferred.

Walton is already a graduate student. Not sure if grad students get an extra year or not, even though Butler apparently does.

Perry is listed as a redshirt junior. Not sure if he'll want to come back or not. If he leaves, it will provide more minutes for Williams, who is likely the guy to replace him. I guess the plans are for Williams to become a starter after Butler leaves so he'll need more minutes.

I could see Washington leaving. His value has unfortunately decreased and I don't expect him to get a lot of playing time next year. But if he stays and is healthy, I'm sure they can find him some minutes, and could be a valuable backup if there are injuries.

After Illinois we desperately needed another shooter Coletrane would have been useful. We need a "Fouch" type. If Drexel keeps everyone but, Perry and Walton I see us being the Favorite with a possible rematch for NU for the finals next year. However, as a true 1 vs 2 seed matchup. Per Verbal Commits we have one open slot left assuming no one leaves.

I think we have that shooter in Okros. We need guys who can do a lot more than just shoot 3-pointers. For example, Trevor John was the best 3-point shooter in Drexel history, but Drexel finished 13-19 in the year he was here. I recall that he was a weak defender and may have cost Drexel more points than he gave them with his shooting.

From what I remember about Washington, I thought he was just a guy who stayed back looking for a three, and I don't remember him as a great defender or guy who could drive to the basket.

We need more than one shooter. We aren't Gonzaga where we can win with just 6-7 players. More options we have more we can play matchups especially if someone is cold at shooting.

RE: caa
Shooters are not the problem. We need more movement to create shots on offense. Mate driving some is promising. We need more of that. TJ has shown flashes of doing just that as well. We need threats that go beyond being 1 dimensional. Someone who can shoot, and drive. I think we are in good shape as long as the roster doesnt get shaken up from the portal. I think Walton and Washington are for sure gone. I struggle with seeing Butler return, but I think that is much more possible than Walton returning. We need another big man. Amari is a great start but we need someone who can play the 5 or play the 4 as a stretch (meaning they have to be able to shoot some)

If Drexel beat Illinois or if he score 20+ points he would be gone. Terrence Butler is 6'6 and could be a good fit.

PORTAL: William & Mary G Luke Loewe (SR) has entered. Grad transfer.

The overall talent level continues to go down in the CAA. Let's see if the schools replenish the talent with high level freshman and other high level transfers. Not all transfers will be looking to go up a level. Many might go down to get more playing time.

If we magically keep our team together or mostly together, we best run roughshod on this league next season.

Based on what we know at this point. As I said before, we don't know what talent will be joining the league. I don't think that we will be an overwhelming favorite to dominate the league. First place, maybe, but I can't picture a 16-2 type season.

If we keep everyone mostly together and don't get hit with a spurt of injuries, and we're not the overwhelming conference favorite, it should be a very strong year for the CAA.
