Yesterday morning, I had this fear that the CAA screwed up their Covid protocols and allowed a Northeastern player to participate while testing positive for Covid, forcing Drexel to forfeit and giving the championship to Elon.

Based on what Drexel has dealt with over the years and especially this year, I don't think this thought in my head was so far fetched.

Yes Dan10....Your DREXEL DRAGONS are STILL 2021 CAA CHAMPIONS!!!!!

LOL...nothing epitomizes a Dragon or Philadelphia sports fan better than this! (e.g. 1964 Phillies, etc.). This also goes further back than your following. Still remember a last minute errant inbound pass that cost us a tournament win way back in the ECC days, or possibly even prior to that in the ECAC. Trying run out the clock and the pass went to the opponent who hit a game winner at the horn.

It's our "burden" to carry.....LOL

It was a well earned victory given the team's commitment to staying together and well. In addition, Drexel basically lived on the road this season making the run more impressive. No shortcuts in winning either as you won at JMU the last week of the regular season, defeated all the top teams including Northeastern in the semis and took down Elon who was playing very well at the end of the year.

Your win leaves my Tribe, Towson and Elon as the only schools not to win the league title since 2010. Elon looks like they might be close as well at this point to getting off that list.

Thanks Tribe. I'm still pissed off about the end of the 2014 Championship Game. I was so ready to celebrate you guys beating Delaware. I was so pissed and turned off the TV immediately. It will happen for you guys eventually and when it does, it will be amazing.

It was ECC, in the DAC. I believe Doug Romanczuk and Mike Kernan were involved. I believe the inbounds was right in front of our bench, and I was in the stands behind our bench. Still a dagger to my heart. Doug later betrayed DU when his son Paul played for Penn.

I dont want this to be understated, the DAC Pack truly grew in the '07 after the Sam Houston State NIT game and NC State. That game grew interest that led to the sellouts for midnight madness for the '08 season and Franks senior year. But that NIT game kept enough interest for a few seasons despite poor results. That allows the DAC Pack to truly grow and flourish and enjoy the experience. On that success we brought in some of the best players this program has ever seen which led to great success, despite never breaking through. The Pack roared. The success of the conference surely helped, but a lot of the building of our program came on the heels of the near success in '06-'07 season. The years after '12 we never quite had the talent or successes any more and everything fell apart.

Breaking through this season is a massive opportunity to start fresh and really build up the experience again. There is little doubt fans will be allowed back in next season, which means the first time fans will be allowed back in will be on the heels of being an NCAA tournament team. If the new AD and current president and entire athletics department can rally behind this and the DAC Pac go absolutely blow up again and make the program sustainable once again. Lets all hope we jump on the opportunity again, as this opportunity is even bigger than the one presented in '07

RE: CAA CHAMPIONS!!!!
Gotta bump up the Champions thread again....

Great podcast with Coach Spiker. It's about 12 minutes and worth the listen.
