The announcers were Tom McCarthy and Pete Gillen.

I think he was talking about Sunday's announcer on Flo. I'm not sure his name either. Tom McCarthy will not be calling tonight's championship game. He was just filling in, and I'm not sure if he was even at JMU and they may have transposed his picture at pregame to make it look like he was.

He was there yesterday unless it was a CGI of the pregame and halftime stand ups with Gillen. He was in Richmond for the A-1o games so not a stretch for him to have done the semis for us.

OK. It makes sense then if he was doing the Atlantic 10 games. It did look like CGI in the pregame. I know they do some crazy things now to pretend that they're at the games when they're really in a studio. I used to get fooled by those syndicated games that did CAA games a few years ago, where they called the games remotely but acted like they were in person.

At least one CoC sports coverage guy is firmly in the anti-Flo camp: https://twitter.com/SEisbergWCIV/status/...1148677121

I do agree with him to an extent. I agree that not having games on TV probably does hurt with recruiting for the reason stated. It's hard to just flip to a game.

HOWEVER....

The Flo contract gives schools the option to put home games on local or regional television. Drexel had quite a few of their games on TV. Of the 11 Men's and Women's BB games played at the DAC this year, 7 of them were on NBC Sports Philadelphia (4 men's and 3 women's). And they had plans to put a lot more games on TV as well if they didn't all get cancelled.

Northeastern put a bunch of their home games on NESN.

JMU put their games on MASN, NBC Sports Washington, and their local MyTV affiliate.

W&M put their games on Cox Yurview.

Meanwhile, Elon, Delaware, Towson, Charleston, Hofstra, and UNCW all chose not to put their games on TV. So if fans of those schools are complaining about lack of TV coverage, that's their own schools fault, not the fault of the CAA or Flo.

Here is an article from 2 years ago from the Charleston newspaper that explains the Flo deal and why they went this route. I don't necessarily think that ESPN is the best option. The issue is that the article states that the league is investing the FLO money to get more games on CBSSN. Last year there was a game of the week, but that didn't happen this year. Hopefully it was just because of the uncertainty of games being played. Hopefully the league can get up to 16 games on CBSSN as stated in the article.

It appears that FLO is having technical issues for the start of the championship. They keep on changing the countdown clock and you can hear the PA announcer in the background.
