Jasick gone at JU
Tony Jasick was fired today at JU after 7 seasons. In 7 seasons Jasick had one (17-16) winning season and never finished better than a 3 seed in the tournament. Jasick had two years left on his contract. A national search for a new coach will start immediately.

I'm not cheering for anyone to lose their job. Jacksonville needed to upgrade and I hope they go get one. Help pull up the ASUN.

After they hire a Coach they can start by building a decent Arena, Stetson too. Those high school gyms are underwhelming, and I'm sure new arenas would boost their programs immensely.

Florida has a lot of talent. If they could build an upgraded arena, that would do wonders. They likely lack the finances or else it would have been done already. But hopefully they take the steps.

Upgraded facilities are key.

A $8 million Practice Facility is underway and should be completed by September 2021. That will help, but a 3000 seat on campus arena would really hit the spot.

Both the Florida Times-Union and Hoopdirt report that UF assistant Jordan Mincy was on the JU campus yesterday. This one MAY be over by the end of the week.

Would that be a good hire? I don't know much about basketball coaches.

He was listed as one of the best 40 under 40 coaches and the highest assistant on the list (I think top 10). It’d be a home run hire (on paper).

I agree with this assessment.

It is official, JU has hired UF assistant Jordan Mincy. This is very good news for Jacksonville. I anticipate much better days ahead for the basketball program.

Mincy has managed to convince two of the five contributors that entered the Portal to return. Tyreese Davis & Kevion Nolan are both returning. That leaves All ASUN 2nd team Donatarius James, Bryce Workman and Trey Sides still in the Portal.

RE: Jasick gone at JU
Tony Jasick landed this past week as he was announced as the new Associate Head Coach at Stephen F Austin. SFA has been on a nice run over the last several years and finished 2021 at 16-5 and ranked 151 in Kenpom.

Previously former JU assistant Dan Bere was named as an AC at Wright State.
