ABC. I've never seen it mentioned so much by coaches and sportswriters that the BCS was a concoction of ABC and then the conferences joined them. If USC wins the Rose Bowl, the BCS will not crown the National Champion, what a headline!! 03-wink More people now talking about a playoff, at least a four team or at least having one more game after the Bowls for a Championship game. I just love to see the BCS having problems

I hear you. I've always thought that. ESPN and ABC are both owned by Disney and guess who is always defending it. Hmmmm.....

I always thought that a four team playoff made sense. But an eight team playoff would make even more sense. You could keep the BCS just for seeding purposes. Six conference champs plus two at large teams. Better yet, give an automatic to the highest rated conference champ from C-USA, MWC, MAC and WAC, and one at large pick. Three wins for the national title. No crybabies.

It will never happen. EVER. But it's fun to dream...

I like the idea of the highest rated, BCS rated, non BCS conference champion making it into a BCS Bowl but I think they will have to throw the BCS schools a bone and add a 5th BCS Bowl game. That way the BCS conferences don't lose a bowl spot, thay actually gain one. I think this is the way the new BCS will be set up and, minus a playoff, is about as good as as we're going to get right now. I think they may consider a Championship game after all the bowls are finished also!! I have a friend that thinks, the bone they are going to throw the non BCS schools is, instead of having to be in the top 6 or 8, BCS ratings, to be BCS Bowl eligible, all we will have to be is in the top 10 or 12. I told him that doesn't help because that just makes you eligible and no big bowl is going to pick Tulsa or Boise State over a Texas or Tenn. if all were eligible. 05-nono

yeah, you're right fishman. It will have to be an automatic for the Tulsas or Boises of the world to get into the big $$$ games.

Here's what I want to see:

Shorten the season where you are allowed to play only 10 or 11 games...then a conf. championship makes 11 or 12...

1-The Big Ten add a team to make them twelve....
2-The PAC-10 grab two teams from the MWC to make twelve....proably BYU and Utah.....
3-The MWC then add six teams from the WAC...such as New Mexico St., Fresno St., Hawaii, UTEP, Nevada, and Boise St. That makes 12 for them....
4-Then force the WAC and Sun Belt to mix to make a 12+ team conference....
5-And somehow get the Big East to twelve or have that conference disperse and deliver the teams to all the other conferences...

What does that give us?
12 teams in all these conferences..
Big Ten
PAC-10
MWC
WAC/Sun Belt
ACC
SEC
Big XII
MAC
C-USA
Big East

Make all those teams have Conference Championships.....

Then have 6 at-large teams....
That makes for a 16-team playoff....
Have the AP and coaches decide the seeds...
Five weeks for the playoff....
That's 17 or 18 weeks of college football...
You can start in the first week in september or last week in august and end sometime in January....
I think this would be perfect...

You've got a nice complete makeover for the BCS but with the wonderful BCS schools, A little patch may be the best shot to start with. I'm just hoping for some change that means something besides making us bowl eligible if we were 10th in the BCS rankings, which would have even been virtually impossible for TCU if they had gone undefeated this season!! :bang:
