RMU in 2018: 0-9 vs Div I (2 Div II wins/0-6 in the NEC) (JMU 73, RMU 7).
RMU 2019 playing a tougher OOC schedule 7-5/6-1 in the NEC.

In 2018 they were a COMPLETE DUMPSTER FIRE. That HC of has done a PHENOMINAL job with a HUGE turn around. Was a Eddie Robinson finalist for National Coach of the year. My guess is he isn’t at RMU for long, as he will be poached.

Anyone who thinks this RMU team will be similar to the one faced 2 years ago hasn’t been paying attention. I see JMU winning this comfortably by 30-40ish. Its not going to be by 66.

Of the 5 AQ eligible NEC teams, RMU could very well win the NEC AQ, esp since the 2019 NEC AQ, CCSU, isn't playing..

In complete agreement here. I'm seeing more like a 24-30 pt spread on this one as RMU is substantially better than Morehead St. All I really want to see is a sustained level of awesomeness from our running backs (who can't get excited about that foursome?!?!) and some improvement everywhere else.

On a side note, I will be driving down to that Weber State game (fishing along the way) and if anyone would like to catch up for a beverage, lets make that happen.

Man, THAT sounds like a killer plan. I’m still in the baby stages of figuring out tentative plans. Can’t decide if I want to explore areas north or south since I probably won’t have enough time to do both. But fishing out there in September sounds awesome. Would be down to catch a drink with other Dukes in Utah in September.

Sweet. Not to sway your decision here, but northern Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana that time of year is special (hopefully it will not be on fire like recent years). If you can swing it, I'd fly into Bozeman or Billings, take my time and drive down, catch the game, then fly out of Salt Lake. You will not be disappointed.

That does sound very nice. I think I would take the Spokane, Coeur d' Alene, Missoula route, which I have driven and is spectacular. Then, south down Rte 93 and 84 looks special, although I admit that I have never driven that particular stretch.

You have to think that Clark, having played on those great Miami teams of the mid/late 80s, and in the NFL, is going to be able to rake in the talent at RMU be top dog in the Big South, esp with KSU leaving.

And unlike Deion Sanders at Jackson St, he won't have to bring in someone to teach tackling.

We are going to destroy Bob Morris! We have a game up on them, giving us a very important experience and chemistry edge, while this is their first game of the season.

I will be very surprised if they score on us, and if they do, it will be because we made a big mistake (pick, fumble, missed tackle). They may gain more rushing yards against us than Gimme Morehead did, but low double digits, probably. I will be equally surprised if we rack up less than 300 rushing yards. I think another 52-zip outing sounds about right.

Yeah, I’ve been out to Spokane/Coeur d’Alene before to visit a friend. Chose to do the long Empire Builder Amtrak out after an initial flight to Minneapolis. Got to see an awesome stretch of country that way. Checked out Seattle for a day before flying home. Been itching to get out that way again.

Not expecting RMU to be the pushovers they have been in the past. Give me 34-20 Dukes.

No. We are going to destroy Bob Morris. If we only beat them by 14, then we are a middle-of-the-pack CAA team. Elon would beat Bob Morris by four touchdowns. Rhode Island is two touchdowns better than Bob Morris.

Elon couldn't beat Davidson by a TD, and Bobby Morris is a better team than Davidson. I say 49-10

From what we saw last Sat after struggling to barely beat non scholly Davidson, Elon wouldn't beat closer to full scholly RMU by anything lol. URI isn't 2 TDs better than RMU. URI's defense was god awful last season, and they lost their big 3 on offense (2 WR & OT) (1 drafted, 2 UDFA). If URI's postponed game with Bryant doesn't get rescheduled, they're gonna finish 0-6.

JMU is going to beat RMU by more than 14, but if its only 28-35, no reason to worry.

The RMU board seems more active than Elon or RU these days, and the conversation there is more intelligent also.

Accuweather hourly forecast for Harrisonburg:
Noon: 53 degrees, cloudy, 49% chance of rain, winds SW at 9 mph, gusting to 12.
3 PM: 62 degrees, cloudy, 20% chance of rain, winds about the same.

So unlike last week, with temps upper 20s, shouldn't have to worry about playing with hard balls. Maybe wet ones early..

RE: Week 2: Robert Morris at JMU
Beware the wet balls...

I’m expecting to see more of the same. Lots o’ running with Fornadel and Kidwell dominating on the right side. Cignetti can remain Vanilla and win this game handily while throwing some backups out there to get game experience. He played the starters longer than I expected last week and I think he did so because he wasn’t happy how they let off the gas in the 2nd quarter against Morehead.

Let’s just get through this game without any key injuries. It was discouraging to see Kidd and Ayamel go down last week in a game that was already decided before kickoff. We know Depth is always a factor in FCS football, but should be even more of a factor this year as programs lose players due to the virus or contact tracing quarantines.
I hope we don’t end the season and have to play the important games with Harrisonburg high school’s walk-on playing starting linebacker. Now entering the game... Jebediah Armentrout. 5’8” 175 lbs who led the Streaks to a huge Valley district win over Broadway last year.

The Dukes didn’t get to 500 yards rushing last week, but could have if they weren’t tinkering with the passing game. Let’s go with 350 rushing yards this week.

JMU 41
Robert Morris 10

50 degrees, Cloudy (6% rain prob), wind 12mph gusting to 23.

BDK gave an earlier Accuweather outlook 3 posts above.

You have amazing insight on a team with a 0-0 record.

Note: We could win by 50. Also possible that RMU is better than any other team we play in the regular season. Most likely outcome is somewhere in the middle of that wide range.
