RE: When will the conference football schedule be released?
Georgia State gets the luxury of playing Georgia Southern, Louisiana and Coastal in 3 straight road games with the first two being a Saturday-Thursday quick turnaround combo. Why the league did not schedule a road game against App State on the Thursday after the Coastal game is anyone's guess. Just an oversight, I suppose.

League doesn't control scheduling really. Teams set their OOC Schedules, ESPN than gives us the TV dates and what games it wants, and then the league fills in the rest of the games.

Typically the team on the road on a short week has a home game the week before. So no, SBC scheduling strikes us again.

At least we don't have 3 trips across the Mississippi in 4 weeks again.

Plus, you get to come up the mountain during the holiday season. 04-cheers

People have been complaining about this game not being on a Saturday (myself among them) ever since we joined the SB. I just hope our students & fans show up. We've had some struggles with attendance on Saturday's after Thanksgiving.

This issue isn't exclusive to when App joined FBS. If I remember correctly, only around 14,000 would show up for 1st round playoff games.

App gets both ESPN2 games, they still love us, awwwww.

Hey it's a good outcome for us if we do.

We'd be looking for a new coach.

So looking for a new coach is a "good outcome" for us????

What, you don't want a 4th coach in less than 10 years?

I don't think anyone should have more than 1 midweek home game. If a team is on multiple midweek games, the 2nd should be away. I am hoping our Saturday game after thanksgiving gets bumped up to Friday. We don't want to compete against the Iron Bowl.

No thanks. It would actually be coach #5 in 10 years.

I’m curious, are most Sunbelt fans happy with the divisional set up or would you prefer to play a 9-game full round robin conference slate?

RE: When will the conference football schedule be released?
Scheduling at the G5 level doesn't allow for 9 conference games. It would hinder quality home games by the likely increase in FCS games needed every other year.

I would prefer an adjust divisional matchup, I would like to see a dedicated crossover opponent like USA/Troy

Almost universally down here we prefer the 8 game schedule. We all have to play at least one buy in per year in OOC play ot make ends meet financially. It would be very difficult to to get home and home G5 deals in OOC play without having that 4th OOC game.

I would prefer to have a set crossover opponent, which the Sun Belt has avoided to this point. I feel like every time we come close to starting something with an East team, they disappear from the schedule.

You guys do play the schools in the other division 8 yrs out of 10 so that’s not too terrible.

Just dandy for me. I'll edit my predictions:

vs ECU on some ESPN channel
@ Miami on probably the ACCN
vs Marshall on ESPN
@ Lousiana on ESPN2
vs CCU on ESPNU
vs GS on some ESPN channel (ESPNU has played a SBC game on the Friday after Thanksgiving the last few years. Wonder if they'll make this an ESPNU game)

App State tweeter with another meltdown over the schedule. Those people wouldn't be happy even if they were allowed to pick time/date/place/network.

If it's Thursday, it's ESPN. If it were at Marshall it may be moved to CBSSN, but it's in Boone so it will have to be an ESPN game. No reason to kill the 32,000 or more in attendance App would've had for a Saturday 3:30 PM kick-off other than for national TV.

honestly I get the chagrin. Big Saturday home games are hard to come by with our popularity with the ESPN folks.

Who doesn't wanta big September Saturday home game with a rival who we owe a beatdown to? Now that its Thursday night, I, and a bunch of out of towners will probably have to watch on TV, specifically for me because I have an infant.

I understand the benefits and i'm sure doug gillin knows how to use a calculator, but it still kind of sucks not to have a marquee early season home Saturday game.
