It would be interesting to see where McNeese State is now had they opted to remain 1-A in the early 80’s. They were approved and decided to remain in the Southland, unlike Louisiana (USL).

As far as I can tell, it appears that 3 of the 33 games scheduled for this weekend (Thurs - Sun) have been postponed.

Again, would like to see the postponement ratio compared to what FBS experienced in the Fall.

SDST wins it at the buzzer with a field goal. Good game.

Akron should be playing with these guys.

RE: General FCS Spring Football Game Thread
Just saw something I've never seen in 50 years of watching football at any level.

1) After scoring a TD to go up 20-10 in the second quarter, Jacksonville State lines up to kick off to UT-Martin at their own 35 yard line.

2) The kickoff is a line drive, and hits the helmet of one of the UT-Martin up men who was standing 10 yards away.

3) The ball ricochets back towards the Jacksonville State goal like it was shot out of a cannon, blowing right past the oncoming Jacksonville State coverage team.

4) The Jacksonville State kicker, however, sees what has happened and chases after the ball, flopping on it at his own 12 yard line.

So the upshot is, because the ball went 10 yards (and hit a UT-Martin player to boot), Jacksonville State takes possession at its own 12 yard line.

Wow, I'll have to find that highlight.

New onside kick strategy: Recruit the strongest legged kicker you can and have him try to drill opposing players with line-drives. If they try to catch a powerful line-drive, they'll probably mishandle it. And if it hits them, it may bounce back. Odds can't be much worse than the normal onside kick attempt, if they're worse at all.

Here's the play. The UT-Martin player was actually 15 yards away, at the 50!
