There should be some drop off, especially on the DL and LB. Doesn't mean these guys can't become better than the guys they are replacing- just not likely to see that level of performance till later in the season. Just my 2 cents.

I believe that the quality of our talent so far exceeds the talent of our competitors that you will see little drop off from years past, and after a few games, new names are going to emerge as Dukes superstars. Next man up.

RE: Football season predictions Spring 2021
Teams are going to have to load the box against us so as long as Cole is able to handle the play action passing game our offense is going to be fine. I can see us not having as high of a scoring offense as we've had in the last few seasons but I think TOP is going to go through the roof which only helps our young defense. Interested to see how we play from behind if that opportunity ever happens since we dont have a clear deep threat as off now. I do think Bracey is going to be a stud though. Seems like a mix of polk and stapleton

I predict we make it back to Frisco this spring for a rematch against NDSU.

With the way the last year has gone I predict NDSU comes to Harrisonburg for the playoffs and there wont be fans in the stands

Depth- this is a program - I believe one of the 75 best in all the land. Studs replace studs that’s how it goes around here. Dukes continue to dominate and once again make it to Frisco.

I agree. No mobility and misses downfield receivers by ten yards. Not good.

I’ll cut him some slack this week with BDK’s frozen balls theory.

Definitely needs to step it up or we should take another look at Gage. His throws had some zip today, some of them too much for the receivers to hang onto.

I did a quick look earlier. I didn’t count but we have a bunch of guys 5-6? listed as QB’s. Wonder what we’ve got there? Some of them upper class men too, we just don’t hear anything about them for whatever reason.

Think i saw 5 on the roster. We'd probably rather not start freshmen, so that pretty much leaves CJ, Gage and Bentley.

Bentley was a DII transfer, wish we had seen a little bit more from him today. Gage I think has shown flashes of potential. Assume there are some reasons the coaches have gone with CJ for now. Our coaches know the QB position very very well.

Yea, I don’t doubt that, I just hope he’s not a red practice jersey stud that then struggles when things go live.
We certainly didn’t find anything much out today, we may not for a month or more.

.... and he can run, very important.

The broadcast mentioned several times that Cole won the job because of decision making. It was extremely close. I noticed that when Cole was running zone read plays, Morehead almost always had their DE key on Cole, who is not really a running threat. I think I only saw one or two times when the DE crashed and Cole took it around the edge for a few yards.

I am going to wait another game or two until I say Cole ain't the guy to lead us out of Frisco with the trophy.

Yeah, I don't think its urgent, there is plenty of time to evaluate. I doubt we need much of our passing game for the next 7 or 8 games ... we will be fine until the playoffs.

ugh that WOULD be the way the NDSU @ JMU game happens... in a time when nobody can attend the one FCS game that almost all JMU fans would universally vote as their number 1 opponent matchup at home

RE: Football season predictions Spring 2021
Came out of Saturday's game feeling we did look look that great. Monday morning I think based on how bad our schedule is we could win all our games by double digits, with an average differential of 4 touchdowns. (If Cole can step his game up, which I expect). I don't think run more is the answer.

Covid/CAA align in a bad way for the Dukes.

There's not a team on our regular season schedule that we will need to do much of anything but run it down their throat. By playoff time we need to get the passing game operational.

Elon just barely escaped Davidson and lost the ground game to them. Maybe Davidson is better than Morehead, but not 50 points better.

Huesman seems to have already mailed things in for Spring at RU.

Maybe W&M will be better this year. Wouldn't count on it, but perhaps they have some talent there we are overlooking.
