Richmond and William and Mary are not walkovers and we play them twice, each. I don't know what Elon has coming back, but i do seem to remember them being the only CAA team to beat us at Bridgeforth over a several year run.

I believe we should give a little more respect to our CAA brethren. It would make their season to beat us. If we aren't up for the games, we could trip.

The last 3 years averaged beating:
Elon by 20/game
RU by 34/game
W&M by 40.33 a game

Of the nine games, only 2 were closer than 28 points -
Elon won by 3 under Curt two years ago.
RU only lost by 7 points 3 years ago

We beat Elon by 35 last year and they look worse this year barely beating non-scholarship Davidson who is similar caliber as Morehead State.

We're going to be 2 TD favorites over anyone we play, unless we are much worse than we expect. Elon is bad. W&M has been horrible. Hyper says RU is lousy.

Not feeling a lot of respect for the 3 CAA schools on our schedule. Northern CAA - yes, but not the three we are playing.

Could it be that Robbie Morris will be the best team we face in this pandemic regular season?! <mind><blown> (we probably do need to move up 03-wink )

RE: Spring FCS 2021 Playoff Discussion
NDSU and JMU are not playing like the top teams in FCS.

To me last week NDSU showed some improvement, but they are nothing like their teams during "their" era.

JMU has not played like a top 10 team.

While either, or both, could make the NC game, at this point I'd probably say there are at least 2-1 odds against either making the championship.

I'd now predict 6-1 for us, but would not bet the mortgage against worse.

Perhaps this week off benefits us, but currently this team is not playing good. We lost a ton to graduation, UVA, and now Fornadel.

If you gave me $1,000,000 if I predicted if JMU would make the FCS Semis, I would easily select no at this point.

Playoffs are far from a lock for JMU this year.

If we lose to richmond I'm going to say we do not make the playoffs this year

If we lose this game, this message board will blow up as will the JMU Nation Facebook page. It will be an epic meltdown. There will be calls for Cigs firing and people wanting to start the 3rd string QB. People will give up on the season with suggestions of benching all Seniors and giving the underclassmen more playing time to gain experience for the fall.

I have no inside knowledge on this, but I’m just hopeful we play. Canceling the game could possibly spell doom for the spring season.

I’m not sure it would spell doom, but it would put us in a tough spot. We would need to play and dominate the rest of our games I think.

6-0 would have a good chance of getting us a playoff spot, though a seed would seem unlikely, especially with how UD is performing now. It would make it tough to catch them on the PF/PA stats if they win out.

My impression was we did not play this past game because of an outbreak within one position group, and it might have been our call whether or not to try to play without them. Of course, it might be super tough if it was something like the entire OL that got hit.

Thought it odd that Cig was not on the coaches media call this morning and that the usual Monday PC was pushed to tomorrow.

Hope it means nothing.

Our Richmond game is only postponed. We are still going to get a chance to squash the ticks.... and we will!

They technically reported the W&M game the same way so don’t see any way they can make up both games with only one bye week available

The phrase "football program has paused all activities" is worrisome.

I don't believe that was the case last week, so it seems like things may have taken a bad turn here. I'm a little concerned not just for this week, but also next week.

We need 4 games to be technically playoff eligible, but realistically it seems like we need to play W&M and RU at least once each to have a good shot at the playoffs. Either that or pray RU, RI, and UD each lose at least once and we remain undefeated. That would win the CAA AQ based on conference game win percentage.

We really need to play at least the remaining game against RU to give them a big fat nasty L on their record.

Since last fall I know there were a few Div I teams that had 2 games in a row postponed/cancelled. Has there been a team that had 3 games in a row postponed/cancelled from their end?

Charlotte had a lot of games cancelled as did Ohio St. but don’t know if either had three consecutive weeks.

Looks like Ohio St had 3 out of 11 games canceled. Charlotte had 6 out of 12 canceled/postponed, with 3 back to back. Doesn't look like any of the postponed games were rescheduled in Fall.

Probably this was not so common ... but 6 cancellations, wow.

CBS has us as a #3 seed as of 3-14-21 with NDSU on our side of the bracket at #7.

I wish we could just turn it on, and play like prior years. I just don't think we're near as good as we've been the last 4 years.

RE: Spring FCS 2021 Playoff Discussion
While there is still a lot of regular season games left, things seem to be taking shape a bit now.

In the MVFC, there are 3 teams remaining with only one loss:

NDSU : 5-1
UND : 4-1
SDSU : 4-1

All other teams have at least 3 losses. Some of the MVFC promoters are now pointing out that 3 of Missouri State's (4-4) losses were in the Fall, but this seems to be grasping at straws to me. Either the fall counts or it doesn't, and the committee said those results would be included.

NDSU is scheduled to play SDSU next week in a game that could have seeding implications. I see the MVFC getting one or two at larges right now, would be shocked if they get more than the above 3 teams in.

I think this might also open the door for 2 CAA at large bids. Could see MJ's hypothetical "5-1" Maine team getting a bid, as either SDSU or NDSU will have 2 losses.

Elon-W&M game has been postponed this weekend. Got to wonder if teams already eliminated just pack it in for the year.

Yea. I think you can write that one off, so we'll be looking for a replacement. If we beat UR, maybe they'll be looking for another shot on the 17th.
