Men Gymnasts Beat Stanford In Rare, Perhaps First Virtual Meet
https://tribeathletics.com/news/2021/2/1...pener.aspx

We seemed to have missed it on these pages this week, but the men's gymnastics team defeated the current defending national champions, Stanford, in what may have been the first ever virtual team collegiate sporting event ever held.

All the details are in the Tribe article above, but has there ever been a virtual meet held in two locations with a computer keeping track?
Probably a first ever that should have drawn more notice.

Not to mention a rather stunning W&M victory over a defending National Champion...in this case Stanford...by our gymnasts.

And to top it off, another first: four women judges in four different places
judging both teams on their computer screens.

BEAT the NATIONAL CHAMPS!

Kuddos to both the M gym team and the IT support that was provided to help them look so good in a virtual meet!

Good on both schools for doing this. Good on those who made it possible. Especially good on the Tribe coach for being gracious in victory. Classy is the word that comes to mind.

Just a nit, but Stanford won in 2019. Last year was cancelled, so I suppose they are still "defending". Great job nonetheless. Too bad we couldn't have beaten them in football last fall. That would have been a pretty amazing run against our friends from Palo Alto. Of course we did have the plagiarism instead of the football game. Somehow I think we won based on help from Stanford.

When you read the article this jumped out:

Stanford competed with a limited roster and had just four scorers in four of the final five rotations.
