RE: Belt basketball 2/10- 2/13
I feel like I should know the answer to this but why are we all only playing our travel partners twice when we play every other division opponent 4 times?
I get the games aren't a big deal outside the Georgia teams but I'd also say the Cajuns are at a disadvantage playing ULM twice instead of 4 times (no offense to ULM, but they're on a different level than everyone else in both divisions) and that absolutely can be the difference between a bye and no bye in the tournament.

League didn't want to change from 18 to 20 League games. Only way to make 18 work in divisions only is play 4 teams 4 times and 1 team twice. Travel Partners was easiest way to pick the one team.

I guess if you were going to play one team, on the same weekend (Thur-Sat), it makes sense to play the team that is closest geographically.

The main difference between the AAC/MWC and the SBC is that those leagues stress good to great basketball. They are truly striving to become P5 like in ALL sports. It’s time the SBC does the same thing.
Scheduling requirements for basketball needs to happen. If it doesn’t you end up with a Bobby Big Fish like coach. A guy who will beat the bottom 150 RPI teams 90% of the time and lose to the top 150 90% of the time. So he schedules crap programs high does nothing to improve the program. Just keeps him getting paid.

I don't see how trying to artificially inflate our Net or RPI scheduling is going to do any good, and it's not like it's will that keeps a lot of teams from scheduling better. If you want to improve the conference basketball perception you need to win NCAA tournament games which we can increase by wising up.
We had 2 years in a row with wins in the NCAA tournament at one point and after that we sent a stream of teams to get chewed up by #2 seeds and teams like 2016-2017 UTA and 2017-2018 UL that could've gotten 8-12 seeds went to the NIT.
Either get rid of the tournament or at least give the NCAA autobid to the RS champ and the NIT bid to the tournament champ.

It’s not artificially inflating numbers by scheduling better. It’s beating top 150 DI teams is better then beating below 150 and non DI schools.
And you are complaint that you can’t beat a 15 seed, you don’t deserve to be in the dance. Got to win the games if you want to play.

It's possible to get two teams in the NCAA's. South Alabama and WKU proved that back in 2008.
WKU and USA both had RPI's in the 30's.
USA had really nice wins over Mississippi State, WKU, and San Diego.
WKU had really nice wins over Michigan and Nebraska, and only lost by 6 points to #1 Tennessee.
Both went to the NCAA's, with USA getting an at-large bid.
You just have to win. We were very close to having two teams get bids in 2017.

TXST takes first game of home and home with UTA this weekend 63-56.
Increase lead in West to 2 over UTA and 1.5 over ULL.

That was a tough loss to take...
Good game Jags. Troy had a chance to win and just couldn't get it done.
