Its better for the conf that Little Rock and UTA stay right where they are doing what they are doing. I don't have any confidence in either school doing anything to elevate SBC football. Little Rock has no money for football and UTA was seldom very good when they had it before.

forget football, the question is, for basketball schools, what are they doing/have done to elevate Sun Belt basketball?

There's no reason App vs. in-state FCS school isn't on WXII/WLOS/WSOC. Same with UL and CCU baseball games airing on local stations.

Seems like ESPN could be up for this type of deal. Just read that the SoCon has added a local media group to their ESPN+ package. Along with games airing on ESPN+ the Nexstar Media group will be airing games on local broadcast channels:

Quote:WCBD (Charleston), WGHP (Greensboro/High Point), WJHL (Johnson City), WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville) and WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke). Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests.

Nexstar Basketball broadcast schedule (all times Eastern)
Jan. 2 – ETSU at UNCG, 5 p.m.
Jan. 9 – Chattanooga at The Citadel, TBD
Jan. 16 – Western Carolina at Mercer, 2 p.m.
Jan. 23 – VMI at Mercer, 12 p.m.
Jan. 30 – Samford at Western Carolina, 1 p.m.
Feb. 6 – Wofford at Furman, 4 p.m.
Feb. 13 – Samford at VMI, 1 p.m.
Feb. 20 – Chattanooga at UNCG, 5 p.m.
Feb. 27 – Wildcard weekend
March 6 – Men’s tournament quarterfinals, 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 8:30 p.m.
March 7 – Women’s tournament final, 12 p.m.

Nexstar football broadcast schedule (all times Eastern)
Feb. 20 – Samford at ETSU, 1 p.m.
Feb. 27 – The Citadel at Mercer, 3:30 p.m.

If the SoCon can squeeze ESPN to letting them have a simulcast on local broadcast then we should push hard for that too.

RE: OT: If you were Sun Belt commissioner
Seeing that ESPN doesn’t have any expense, or direct revenue from our games being on ESPN+, I don’t see why they would have a problem with this. But first we would have to have a commissioner willing to stand up for the conference.
