It's the "believe in your heart" part where people have trouble. And in particular, the sanctification phase, where that belief in your heart drives people to do good things. NOT salvation by works, but rather that if you are a true believer you will do good works BECAUSE of that belief. So you are not saved because you do good works, but you do good works because you are saved.

Bearing fruit and works to God are a byproduct of genuine Salvation, not a path to it.

When you truly repent, you really are born again inside. There is no going back, and your heart yearns to bear fruit to glorify God.

Even when you slip and fall, there is no joy in those sins anymore. You realize how much you hate them and want to purge them from your life forever.
