RE: Serious Question
I think 14 is just a bad idea all around. You wind up being in the same boat as CUSA, while also helping CUSA out.

10 is ideal. 12 is max.

RE: Serious Question
Only way Marshall, UAb and USM all come in is TxSt heads west or ULM drops. Not saying I want either, or that they are going to happen, just saying that is the only way we add all three of those.

One season doesn’t convince me Liberty is all of a sudden a good add.

Go to their board. They act like they are too good for anything but the AAC. F Liberty.

They're deluded if they think their admin would turn down an invitation to any G5 conference now.

I mean, it's not like they somehow only came up with the idea to spend a fortune on scheduling after CUSA and the SBC turned them down.

Spending P5 money to have a G5 schedule.

Also, Freeze jumped all over the idea of being in a conference and said he wanted to be in one.

In the minds of those who decide nothing has changed.

Trying to read between the lines here. What's changed? Are you suggesting that those who spend enough or have the resources can buy there way to the top? There's waaaaaaaaaaaay more to it than that.

I said nothing has changed in the minds of those who decide i.e. School Presidents . Liberty is not getting invited by anyone.

I don't think the number of schools is the issue with CUSA. The distance between those schools, the poor on field performance of most of the league, and having 5 programs with little to no history are the problems with that league.

It is an issue. It's causing 14 schools to divide their CFP payouts amongst each other, plus other revenue streams.

Dividing CFP money among 10 schools makes quite the difference, especially if you finish as the #1 or #2 rated G5 conference.

RE: Serious Question
As much as I would like to have USM and Marshall in the conference, unless ESPN really sweetened the deal with our TV contract by adding them, I’m not sure it’s worth putting two more plates at the table too split the pie money wise. Again, I think both would be great adds, but just not sure it makes dollars and sense (or cents).

RE: Serious Question
The problem is that the wrong schools were added for the wrong reasons. I said it back in 2012 that CUSA should add App and GaSo (who had announced their moves to FBS), stAte, ULL, and Troy. Oh well. What do I know?

Serious Question
FWIW, and I can’t believe I’m saying this I’m glad App and Georgia Southern stayed together in this move.

If it’d gone down that App and Charlotte joined one league and ODU and Georgia Southern joined the other I think we’d all be in a state of purgatory. Both leagues would’ve gotten marginally better but neither would’ve gotten the major lift the Sunbelt got. Though I do think App and GS would’ve kept a scheduling arrangement going.
