RE: 2020-2021 AAC Women's Basketball NET, News, and Games
I've been waiting and trying to sort through how this is going to work out. Since there is virtually no money involved the women's historically tend to follow the rankings closer. The NET though throws it's own wrenches.
Houston was in after the USF win, and dragging Tulane in one the coat tails of a 3 bid league. Then they had a loss that hurt them and therefore Tulane. Tulane would have been in with a USF win although it would have knocked USF out of a top 4/5 seeds. The close loss leaves them on the edge. Houston winning likely drags Tulane back in, as long as Houston doesn't get blown out they are in. Houston winning the whole thing almost assured us of four. Tulane has one good win and one bad loss, so the better that win is the better their chance of sliding in.
Right now USF and UCF are in. Houston should be in but may sweat some, Tulane.is looking like a wrestler in some trash bags in a sauna running knee highs trying to make weight.

I spoke too soon. Houston's big loss puts them in the sauna with Tulane. I still think Houston is in, Tulane may be outside looking in though.

Tulane blew their chance yesterday don’t think they’ll make it.
Houston made it difficult with the blow out loss and their victory over USF has weakened since USF has been struggling lately.
UCF is playing the best ball right now, USF is on a horrific shooting slump.
At the end I think only USF and UCF make it into tourney.

RE: 2020-2021 AAC Women's Basketball NET, News, and Games
Looking at the projections which is much more dicey then with the men and much harder to sort through, in a year that is going to be weird anyway.........
USF is in but many of them have the Bulls lower than I would (6/7 I was thinking 5)
UCF is safely in though some have them in the last eight in type, but seeded them where I thought they would end up in the 9/10 range.
I think the above is a good example of recent bias, that late season shut down and then the crush of games hurt USF's visibility and therefore the AAC's especially with UCF the number two program being paused as well.
Houston is out in most brackets, usually last four or last eight. That upset loss and the beat down in the tourney hurt them. There are similar teams to them sprinkled in the last eight in first eight out of those projections and in the predictions that leave them completely out so there is hope.
Tulane's best win is Houston, in general they were a team that won the games they were suppose to and didn't lose the ones they shouldn't. In a more normal year with a full OOC they might have been able to sneak in. Houston losing the momentum it built up in its run of games going into beating USF hurt their best win. They are out. Had Houston made the championship game, or avoided that regular season upset Tulane might have been able to slide in on that Houston win.
I feel good about Houston looking at the other teams fighting for the last spots, coin flips chance in my opinion that we get three.

USF is an 8 seed? That’s just stupid.

USF got hosed with an 8 seed. Should have been a 6 seed at worst.

Recency bias, the pauses came at terrible times, so did that Houston collapse. Covid season killed what likely would have been a four bid season. USF and UCF look strong again for next year and I think will represent well in the tournament. Houston and Tulane took important steps. Temple and Cincy seemed to get knocked off with covid so the league should be strong next year.
