I agree, they'd be a solid FBS addition. They'd be an outlier no matter their conference, but that shouldn't be an issue, they'll come out winning, with instant fan support.

I think there's two issues with football independence at NDSU:

1. Can they can get at least five home games consistently? They're usually a tough out and always a long haul. How many of the G5s are itching for a chance to schlep up to North Dakota to take an L?

2. Can they sustain an FBS athletic budget with more football scholarships and more women's sports? There's only so much they can do to goose capacity at their stadium, and they won't have a conference media deal to help out. And they don't have the deep pockets and extant sports network of Liberty.

Yeah, I think if the MAC needs a backfill, they're on the call-up shortlist, with JMU and EKU.
