He made a Final Four.

he also lost to 4 straight double digit seeds.

But because of his name- he was allowed to stick around for about 3 years too long.

1- All the freedom of movement stuff hurt Georgetown quite a lot(and helped Nova out). Couldn't play old style basketball anywhere near as much as they used to.

Right, for teams that adjusted well, the adjustments were as much or more in recruiting as in game strategy. Teams that recruited 3-and-D players, and players who can take their defender off the dribble and get to the rim, had the players needed to be successful.

GU to now face the winner of UConn vs. Creighton.

Georgetown hasn't played for the Big East championship in 11 years, so I'm just grateful we are doing so now against Creighton.

That said, I was looking forward to a classic matchup vs UConn tomorrow, even though I think we have a better chance against Creighton. Georgetown and UConn are also tied for the most Big East titles at seven apiece, so we could have settled that, at least for now.

Not that we are going to be beat Creighton, we probably won't. But still.

Go Hoyas!

Hard to fathom GU has not played in a BE title game in 11 years.

Yep, 11 years to the date actually, March 13, 2010 vs West Virginia.

Very frustrating loss, game could not have been closer, WV made a shot with 4 seconds left to win 60-58.

That's been our history in Big East finals - when we win, we usually win comfortably, but if the game is close, it usually goes against us.

Georgetown has won the Big East final seven times, never by fewer than six points. Three times we've played in it the game has been decided by two or one points, and we've lost all three of those.

I'm not sure how Georgetown just fell off the mark in the new Big East. You would think things would've gotten easier for them after Syracuse, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Connecticut all left but the opposite happened. In 2013, they shared the Big East regular season title with Marquette before falling victim to Dunk City (Florida Gulf Coast) in the NCAA Tournament. Then in the first season of the new Big East, Georgetown finished 8-10 in round robin play. They've had one season above .500 and one season at .500 and had one NCAA Tournament in the new Big East. Obviously my Villanova took full advantage of the big boys leaving and became the new big boys of the Big East. By contrast, Nova was just 5-13 in the Big East in 2012.

Poor coaching.

Two teams, Hartford and Grand Canyon, are making their first ever NCAA Division 1 Tournament appearance.
