He seems like a nice enough guy, I hope he's successful and brings much success to Marshall Football.

He was the assoc. head coach, RB Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. His area of recruiting at Alabama was Alabama, Mississippi, eastern Louisiana and southern Tennessee.

Couch Huff talked about out recruiting and winning the "Ring". He explained that the ring is the 5 hour radius from where you are recruiting from. The ring for Huff now is Huntington to Greenville SC to Silver Springs MD to Toledo OH to Indianapolis IN and to Bowling Green KY.

Outside of that Im sure he will still recruit FL and GA hard. Im hopeful that he also gets some kids out of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. The QB that followed Byron Leftwich, Stan Hill was from Mississippi.

By my count Marshall has 26 players from FL...he is either NOT going to hit FL as hard as Doc or he is blowing smoke regarding the "ring".

17 from WV.

Pruett and Donnan used the above philosophy and were pretty successful. Here are just some of the NFL Players during their time Nate Poole (VA), Doug Chapman (VA), Chad Pennington (TN), Jason Starkey (WV), Chris Crocker (VA), Billy Lyon (KY), Steve Scullio (PA), and Byron Leftwhich (MD/DC).

What they did is find talent within a five hour radius then use Florida/GA to shore up those classes. Doc did the opposite.

There is plenty of talent in the ring for Huff to find. How much of that is skill players is hard to tell. Doc used the ring to find his OL and DL and then find the occasional skill player. There isn't as many that come from WV but there are some including Grant Wells (Charleston WV), Nazeeh Johnson (Martinsburg WV), Amir Richardson (Morgantown Wv) just to name a few.

It will be interesting to see where the majority of his speed and skill players come from. My guess it will still be FL and GA. With some from North/South Carolina (Darius Hodge/NC) and VA (Devin Johnson). And he may expand to MS/AL/LA since he has HS HCing contacts there already.
