Here are the Complete Terms and Structure of Coach Huff's Contract
Very interesting to see how these things are structured.

Cliffs:

350,000 Annual Salary

205,500 for Media Appearances

200,000 for Fund Raising Appearances

2 Vehicles with Liability Insurance or a car stipend

6,600 for Guyan Golf and Country Club Membership Fees

2,000 per year for Cell phone

25,000 Relocation Allowance

Here are the incentive bonuses

30,000 for 7-5 or better

50,000 for Annual Ticket Sales - Each 400k over 1.6 million

50,000 if Attendance is 50% over the total 2019 season attendance

50,000 for winning the CUSA Championship Game

50,000 for making a bowl

75,000 for making the Access Bowl

1,000,000 for making the National Championship Game

It appears the Buyout is 755,500 each remaining year on his contract.

Also gets 1.4 million for assistant salaries.

This will not get rave reviews. I could be wrong.

Good for Marshall for staying inside what they can afford and not paying 1 million to 1.4 million on a unproven head coach.

There's only one time that the school has the upper hand in a coaches contract and that's the first one...glad to see Marshall use it. A lot of schools dont.

This contract looks to be about what a coach at Western would get

We could have paid him 1 million+. Instead the assistant salaries appears to have been increased by 400k. I don't think Doc's assistant salary pool was even 1 million.

Except the western coach gets a lot less W’s and no chance at reaching fan incentives...

Really? I bet the Western coach has a better chance at reaching the conference championship clause

Are we counting real butts in the seats or make believe numbers for Marshall? Western counts asses while Marshall make numbers up

Since joining CUSA
Western 54 wins under 3 head coaches
Marshall 55

Did you hear? Marshall was Boise St. before Boise St.
The MAC in the late 90's and early 2000's was a crucible.

So much for rumors that said he got a $2million deal. I think the contract is appropriate considering he hasn't won a game as a head coach.

Agreed, it appears fair on both sides and appropriate for G5. Asst. salary is in a good range which is extremely important for a first time HC. A bit low for the “base” IMO but decent incentives.

I saw it on one of the message boards again rumors, I don't see Marshall ever paying that much money for a first time head coach.

Plus
Western - 37 losses

Western - .593% (39th)
Marshall - .647% (21st)

Also, ticket revenue isn’t a made up number.

I like the $million for making the national championship game. How much more does he get if he wins it?

It’s a great pretend incentive and I’m pretty sure he only gets the 1M with a win. Gets $75k for playoff or access bowl.

UCF has a similar clause in their contracts. They authorized the $1 million payment after they declared themselves national championship (based on the Colley rating).

Is there a clause in there for losses? Didnt think so. I believe it was 7 or more wins, so he's actually wrong on that one also.

Marshall
17 out of 44 =38.6%

Western
8 out of 12 = 66.6%

Championships
Western 2
Marshall 1

Hell Western isnt that far off from the Boise St of the east

RE: Here are the Complete Terms and Structure of Coach Huff's Contract
Hell this is the same amount MT is paying our basketball coach who has 10 wins in three years.

Looks like a good contract with the appropriate amount of incentive laden attributes to encourage success - something my school doesn’t get. Looks like a good deal to me.

The only thing I might have changed would have been upping the 7-5 requirement to $50K for a division title or a similar amount for a 10-win season. 7-5 is a little too Stockstillish for me.

Rough math, about 1,000,000 annual salary for winning the conference, and playing in a bowl game.

He should easily hit those escalators up around 900,000 for a winning non championship season.

Great contract. Anyone know how many years?

Just looked. It's a four year deal. Perfect amount.

Ideally, Marshall competes right away and he gets hired to a P5 in a few years.

Or, he coaches himself into an even better contract next go around.
