Don’t know anything about this guy but I do know he’s not Lambert and that’s a good thing for Marshall.

Supposedly one of the top recruiters in the country. High energy, young guy. I’ll take it and see where it goes

Recruiting rankings never was Marshall's problem and recruiting to BAMA vs Marshall is about like the moon and Mars. There's a ceiling on G5 recruiting and staying as one of the top top recruiters will depend on can you spot under valued talent. We know he supposedly spot a 5star but can he spot that NA or 2star that plays way above that level.

That is going to be key and with that what is his experience as someone that had to recruit to a G5 school?

WT was (still is) a great recruiter at Western and every school he stopped at....as a new head coach he turned what should/could have been 9-4, 10-3 seasons into 7-5

Time will tell (like with all of us) if a first time head coach is truly great with actually coaching. He better be, just that, out of the gate.

I think Marshall is one of the best jobs in CUSA. I obviously know nothing of the politics there, but I feel they could have done better than this. I also could be totally wrong.

Supposedly it was really close to being Lambert. The committed adjourned their meeting last night deadlocked.

Hopefully he's good, I'd have preferred a FCS head coach that has proven he can win as a head coach.

Well, they made the right decision.

The committee supposedly didn’t entertain the thought of interviewing FCS head coaches. Pretty stupid I think. We’ll see how this works. We need to get back on track.

I really know nothing about Huff. We did need some fresh blood and that’s what this is. Who knows how he’ll do? I just hope the fan base gives him time to succeed, and the governor promptly sends him down the road if he doesn’t.

There is also the chance that some kids that aren't quite Alabama material or aren't quite qualified could be parked at Marshall through this connection. Saban would rather funnel them to a Marshall than leave them out there for other SEC teams to pick up. Just a thought.

Huff was my 2nd choice, Brian Johnson (OC Florida is who I wanted). Out of the final 3 though he was far and away the best pick. As much as I like Lambert as DC and a person I didn't want him running the Marshall program. Dwayne Ledford after reading about him and then listening to him on YouTube didn't impress me at all. He may be an OC but just the way he presented himself he had no personality or energy.

Quote:Charles Huff Coaching File
2006 Tennessee State (OL)
2007–2008 Tennessee State (TE/ST)
2009 Maryland (asst. OL)
2010 Hampton (OL/RGC)
2011 Vanderbilt (OQC)
2012 Buffalo Bills (asst. RB)
2013 Western Michigan (RB)
2014–2017 Penn State (RB/ST)
2018 Mississippi State (AHC/RGC/RB)
2019–2020 Alabama (AHC/RB)
2021–present Marshall

Huff is from Maryland and walked on at Hampton in 2001 as a Fullback/TE and while there also played guard and center. So he is a do it all.

Why? This guy is a RB coach. There were tons of more qualified candidates.

Check out the fan perspective from Alabama...ought to give you the insight you need.

He might not be coming into a 3 win season but if the talk coming out of Huntington is true there was some inmates trying and succeeding at running the asylum. That is never a good thing.

That is not going to happen, not even if Marshall, falls to 2016 levels, or worse. This is going to be a 4 year coach at Marshall....unless he wins big enough to be wanted by a P5.

If he is average, just 6 to 8 wins a year over 4 season. He is getting a 5th, 6th and maybe 7th season at Marshall. If not its going to be a PR nightmare for Marshall
